White gravy, brown gravy, red gravy....one of my favorites is my Mom's red coffee gravy for ham. They are all good!

Someone asked about old Rupert.....well, it is the first time I've felt well enough to be here for more than a few seconds lately...been in the hospital about a week once...been down and out at home....a struggle?....yes indeed, night and day, more or less...mostly more.
Great to see you guys all still here and continuing this most important work for the good of humanity. I hope to be able to join in a little more often and learn as much knowledge as possible before I go off to the wonderful Squirrel Heaven I have chosen as an alternative if I fail to make the grade to be with the "human kind". Either way, I feel comfortable and at ease with my eternal future.......and will no doubt see many of you guys once again without ceasing....so hang in there!
BTW-Otis informs that ending up in eternity with humans is a sure sign of failure. .....he said "look around Rupert...how can you disagree? " You know that damn Otis....always right!

Best Regards! :)

What wonderful work FS!:) I am so glad that a few years back, (as I recall it?;)) I encouraged you to continue this photographic stuff....believing that you sure enough had some real talent for it...and of course...I was dead right!:D:D

My squirrels appreciate your work too.....some even like your moon shots...heaven knows why???

Hope you are all having a great day with family and friends.:) We've had a few visitors....are not able to leave home but are still enjoying the day together. Kat and her sister are making a big dinner for their family and friends....and are sharing it with me and Gail .:D Brought us a homemade rhubarb pie....hey, that is some pretty good eatin'! ;)

Extra rations for all the critters today......70F, zero wind, beautiful blue skies and low humidity ( I can breathe today!:D). Sort of a peaceful easy feeling today.....gotta love that!:):)

You know, the good thing is...even when I read it and said "that's just a sack of rambling ****, the morphine said, "who gives a damn!":lol:

Glad you found it Bob...I did hunt for the "gist of it"...... without much luck:(.....maybe I was in a morphine blackout?

Careful Bob!.....some of these guys are pretty envious......we don't need to flaunt our good looks, we know what we got!:D

Mrs Rupert likes that morphine...I've noticed that every time I start out on a good Rupert Story she reminds that it is probably time for another dose of my morphine....she gets it for me and then she is gone...and heck, I just go ahead and tell myself the Rupert Story...that's the beauty of morphine....magical stuff! I've heard a few stories I don't even recall...again...must be the power of that magical morphine?

Those are some good observations of the nature of little cliques and clans....which is sort of what we are here...you think? Coffee shops, corner bars, convenience store delis, doughnut shops etc.they can usually be found there.

Hard to bust in with these guys....took me a long time of giving and taking insults before I could sit at the table.
DSCF2023-800 by James Williams, on Flickr

IMGP8859-844 by James Williams, on Flickr

Most of these guys were not that much different than the guys I know in this thread.....a lot of talk....some truth once in a while...some insults (in good spirit of course!;)) and a little fun whenever possible. Every one of them, a bacon lover.:D

In some places we fit...others we don't. Some places, like here, it is hard to tell if we fit or not....and it doesn't seem to matter in the least anyhow. I see 'em buzz in, drop a line or two and buzz out....not to be seen again for ages...if ever? Some only show up when they have been exiled to the doghouse and they need a place to hide. Others avoid rent by living here 24/7.:D

What would be interesting ...for me...is to be able to see how we view each other individually...and how accurate those views would be compared to the reality of the "real world"? Likely, nowhere close in most cases.....I know that meeting members in person, even for a brief period, can completely alter our prior perceptions...and even then, with only a brief dose of reality face to face....we are not really able to say we have a true rendering of who we just met...are we?:hmm:

I can tell you some....like about old Jim up there in Pierre SD. He truly does enjoy his three good days of great weather each year.....but enjoys complaining about the rest of the days even more! He really is grouchy, grumpy, and gripey, and seems to enjoy that too:D......otherwise, he is about what you see here, a pretty damn good guy with a few(?) complaints about life.......oh yeah...he sure as hell knows his bacon too!:D

Strange things I think about .....we are all such interesting creatures in so many, many, different ways. I'm just old Rupert....who are you?;)

(I just proof read that...kinda.....mostly some rambling verbage.....that almost made some sense in a place or two.....got to make a note: Don't let that morphine dose go any higher than it already is!)

Regards!:)

Been to many of those back in the days of my youth. I hated it when they were not close to the house...and for aromatic reasons, they seldom were. On a cold dark rainy night, we guys could pee off the back porch.....ladies had their "bed pans".....but if you needed to do more, it was a really painful experience. Cold...wet.....not a time to get stomach cramps or diarrhea!:(

One of my best long time Pentax pals is also a professor, and has done several year long tours there over the past decade. He has given me a ton of insight into a rapidly changing China. I think all in all, it has greatly impressed him. They are passing us up lickity-split on education for the masses.....very fine education.....and in areas of renewable energy and making a clean environment. We seem to be going in opposite directions.....:(

He is also a skilled photographer and processor.....as well as a gifted antagonist....we've been thrown off several Forums together over the years...including this one! Pals to the end...right or wrong!;)

Here is some of his work and some of his China shots.....some very interesting stuff!

I won't be the last one to go belly up here.....unfortunately....but I do expect that those to come in the future will get the same kind of love and support you guys have given me. Yes, sending jobs that pay $20. an hour to nations that pay $2 per day (12 hour days:() has no bearing on a corporations decision to send off those $20. jobs.....and increase their profits by a huge %....right??:hmm::hmm: We know that the workers best interests are always in mind...right again?

The more my brother, neighbor, friend, makes to provide for his family, the less I have to provide for him. He feels better and so do I. I like that......and I don't want Racer making $2 a day just to keep his job.:(

Seriously, the thieves around here would charge $200 for a call like that on a Sunday afternoon. Flush handle.....I've seen some charge old ladies $90. for $4 flush handle installed ..on a weekday! Greed has no boundaries.:( Don't be like that......just charge Mrs Bob $200......and the back/shoulder rub! :D

Here is a little squirrel for you...said he likes your little birdie shot......but I think he was lying?:hmm: Squirrels hate birdies, we all know that! :D

He is nothing special...but he was accidentally shot with the wrong settings and was totally black.......pushed 4 stops in processing. It is sort of a "funky" look...but I kinda like it! ;)

Whether it is the straight ones or the little kinky ones, those are some fine lookin' bacon treats!:):)

I still l have bacon steaks from Jim for next weeks breakfast meals. That is the most delicious bacon you can imagine! Even Mrs Rupert.....such a picky eater...will 2nd that! :D

Spent the last couple of hours trying to school Mrs Rupert in how to handle her IRA account and minimize taxable income. It is a near impossible task....I feel like a mixer has been inserted into my brain and turned on high. It really is simple stuff...but now I am not so sure about that.....she made it seem like you need to be a CPA just to look at the RMD chart. Also, she hated the option to have taxes withheld from her withdrawals.......said she would just decide against paying any taxes on "HER" money;) Damn...why didn't I ever think of that?.:D

They are a dominant bird in the Woods of Otis. From a guy that can view them in more or less privacy from my office windows.....I can tell you for a fact that they may be monogamous, but the Cardinals here cheat like crazy...no kidding involved! :D

Thanks Mark!:) This topic has been lingering in this thread for several months now....and I suspect it is a subject that won't be missed when it is over. No one can be more tired of it all than me, but as I said, there is no road map or timetable that I can go by or plan upon. I'd like to pop up and tell you guys that I've made a miraculous recovery...but I assure you, that is not a possibility.:(

I can't judge how others are viewing this ongoing conversation of death and dying......my oldest son told me last night that I am not "fighting hard enough". His view from a couple of thousand miles away is not very relevant to me and not very well founded on any reality that he apparently "doesn't see"?

I'm hoping some here that have not contemplated their "end" might do so before the "last minute". There is so much to do now and so little time....I should have planned better in some areas, and I think I would feel more at ease now if I had. Maybe some will think of that and be ahead of the task if they get in my situation? If any good comes from my posts on this, I will be thankful...if not, I do offer my sincere apology for opening an unpleasant topic.:(

Anyhow...as for "not fighting hard enough"....this little female Cardinal landed in front of me this afternoon to show me what a damn squirrel playing "Tail Gunner" did to her. She can fight all she wants...but her tail is still gone:(. I've lost my ass too..and am not to dumb to know it...and it ain't coming back!

Regards!:)

Yep...some of the male Cardinals are already telling jokes about "knocking off a little tail"......Maybe they will learn, like humans, that funny is not always funny.....we guys are mostly all guilty of at least some bad taste at the expense of the opposite sex. I hope it is not worse than that....force or forceful manipulation is a sickness I would not want to be associated with. I consider it the same as animal abuse, child abuse, or abuse of the elderly.......and bet you guys, knowing you as I do, feel the same way. This is not a political statement or view, this is a view we as men should all share regardless of any politics, religion, or other affiliation.
Humor is not in violation of good taste.....when Mrs Rupert pushes you down a long flight of stairs and breaks you all to hell, gets you fired, and her husband comes lookin' for you,,,then you know it was worse than just bad taste!:lol: ( Yep, there is a Rupert Story from long ago in that little sentence!;) :)

.......Well, I got to use a little of my time this afternoon on this post.....it gets boring here mid-afternoon in my little office, so thanks for the space to spend some of that time here with you guys. Can someone change the channel now......the Bacon Channel has a special at 4pm......let's watch it!:D

Chronosynclastic Infindibulum...An older version of "alternative facts" or "alternative truths"?

I think Walter understands this more than most...enough to have one of the most truthful footnotes seen here with his every post....

If there is any such thing as truth, it is in the words in that short sentence.

Regards!:)

Hey guys....I have noticed some changes in my cognitive abilities lately.....which may result in some posting that is more or less duplicated, or repetitive in some manner...or otherwise not the normal "brilliant intellect" you guys are used to seeing from old Rupert.
I try to proof this stuff, and make sure it is honest and truthful.....you know how much it would concern me if I ever posted any untruth in a Rupert Story.....or even any slight exaggeration. :(

I check my oxygen level before posting and if it is not in the 90s, I come back later when it is. I've seen it drop into the 70s too often lately....a time you can pass out....or.....come up with some real doozy Rupert Stories!;)

Anyhow, if I get too far out of whack, drop me a PM and advise me of it. I'd appreciate it!:) Please don't notify Mrs Rupert.....she already thinks I am mostly insane...for the last 50+ years!:D

I've never "been here" before so I don't know what to expect or when to expect it? That is one of the most troubling parts about this....you are flying in total darkness without instruments.....hoping and praying you crash well, and fast. You guys can hope and pray for me too.....I'll be honored if you do! :)

That's some expensive eating!:) My Jays crave roasted peanuts in the shell.
IMGP4442-800 by James Williams, on Flickr

I was reading some Yahoo headliners while ago.....mostly a lot of junk stuff..but came across this, and it made me stop and do some deep philosophical thinking...not something that can happen often on Yahoo!:lol:

We often go into some long drawn out explanation of some of our reasoning, our beliefs, or our personal convictions. We get all wrapped up in philosophical reasoning, quote Plato or Socrates....or other great thinkers....complicated stuff, you know! ;)

In reality it is usually not all that complicated......even Yahoo can get it right every so often! :D

What it was.....

Tim McGraw and Faith Hill Reveal the Secret to Their 21-Year Marriage: "We Like Each Other".

It makes me recall my Sophomore history teacher, a strange guy but very intelligent and a great beer drinking buddy. I was going over my new schedule with him and a few other beer drinking pals and mentioned that I was going to try out a dose of Psychology 101. It set him off on a long tirade about the "freaks" that teach psychology and the weirdos that take the courses.
He wound it all up with this summary......."Psychology is a big word for common sense!" I took one semester of it, and you know, he was dead right.

.....they like each other...imagine that! ;):D Pretty simple! :D

Yep, that is why it works so well! With my pathetic lung condition, I can just pass by a liquor cabinet and get higher than a kite. Any form of physical activity, no matter how light or how slight can bring on 20 minutes of huffing and puffing to restore my breath.....even with oxygen.:(

Our central A/C went out Monday...and it is still a little warm around here.....too warm for me to breathe without the A/C. It would take 10-15 days to replace the central system...if weather stays good? After Nov we probably won't need A/C much at all until March or April.

Supposed to be mid 80s today ( and it is!) so I bought one of these to get me through the next few days....after which it is forecast to cool way down. Furnace is almost new so all we need now is heat until Spring...and we have it!:D
LG Electronics 12,000 BTU Portable Air Conditioner and Dehumidifier Function with LCD Remote-LP1217GSR - The Home Depot
So far today it has done well to keep my office, bathroom and rear hallway plenty cool and humidity free.Beats having to go to a motel and that was the alternative. Cheaper too. I could not have stayed here today without it.:(

Terrific cake Bob!!:)....but there is no way that cake would ever get to me with that squirrel hanging around it!:( I'm betting there is a big chunk out of the backside already?:hmm:

I thank you all for the birthday best wishes!:):):) Mrs Rupert has already picked up my favorite meal from my favorite Italian Restaurant for this evening. Dessert....? She bought me one of those Aldi whole Cheesecakes that has all the assorted flavors.....I may eat the whole damn thing......I got nothing to lose! Pictures this evening,......if I can remember!;)

Was going to pour myself a little jigger of fine Cognac for my birthday lunch...but took and extra dose of morphine instead.....not near as tasty...but it has that girl on the cloud lookin' top-notch...remember?;);)
