I often take aviation pictures and i need longer range than the 300mm lens, However, all the longer lenses are quite expensive and some are really rare to find in pentax PK mount, this mount will be a perfect solution for cheap, long range tele. Besides, I imagine of my friends' long-faces and their dropping jaws when I borrow their lenses, mount them on my pentax and take photos without any problem. To me, this mount will open the door to the "non-PK-mount-lenses" world. Many thanks for your simple yet revolutional idea and action Alston. Love you

I did have a chance to test both of these lenses few months ago, I will find the pictures and post them here for you to compare. My first comment for these 2: the tamron is brighter (with same same aperture :o ) but the sigma is sharper

this is not good, looks like 3rd party lens-makers don't believe Pentax will make any FF camera :(

"Return to ff" is an inevitable move , "FF must vs FF" is inside the box
and why it will be an "APC-S camera" not a "FF camera"? Canon had its first under-$1000-DSLR and it was a huge step. Now why can't Pentax make a colorful/joyful/whatever-ful FF and at an affordable price that make people purchase??

Thanks for your useful info, but if you read the others post carefully, you will find:
1.There is 1 more person think inside the box :):):)
Pentax did not use a FF to battle toe-to-toe with FF from Canikon, Pentax has the 645D to do this :):), and yes, the 645D has all the vices you noted above :(:(:(
One again, what if the pentax FF camera will not go in the Blue shrinking part but the Yellow expanding one??

it is rumored that Kx and D90 having same sensor from Sony. However, like in the computers, same CPU but different results, now you have "same same" sensor but different price (and other things ):rolleyes:
a quote from other thread, I think the $16xx~$17XX price is more suitable for a pentax FF than a APS-C size

that's 101% what is in my mind :)
One more I have to remind, Why do most you guys here think that a FF camera must be a "pro" camera? Let's think out of the box, why can't pentax just make a ff digital camera for: i.the one who can afford the price, ii.waiting for a ff digital camera for his/her lenses which were collected for years

Pentax has a reputation to make cheaper camera from the same sensor base, like the 645 vs S2, the Kx vs D90. So at the price $1699, K5 could be a FF camera with FF sensor that can be found in cameras which is 30% to 40% more expensive. Hopefully, the sensor will be sister to D700/D3s or may be 5D (the same number 5 ;) ).
The only one thing I concern is lenses to go with that FF, but all of the FA ltds are still there, and Pentax has only to show 1 or 2 "2.8" zoom, may be 24-75 and 70-200 or 80-200??????

I hope you are right Milarmon, back a few months ago, everyone is crazy about the K7 and its (speculative) specs, then suddenly the K-x came.
This might be the Pentax's marketing trick, to drive the attention away from their key products?

If the Kx was painted rather than solid plastic, we can take some decal-works and change the color by days :D

yep, I tested it with the Kx, Da Lens with silver Ring (rather than green ) black plastic mount. It is lighter than the normal DA but still has same qualities

Well, it is a 16 GB Ultra II card, but I stored too many pictures in it. One more thing, sometimes, I took the card out without stopping it on the computer, maybe that was the reason.
