Due to the demand, here are some "through the aperture range" shots with the lens: Dropbox - A50-1.2
These are all SOOC JPGs with no adjustments what so ever (sharpening at stock - 0 setting), AA was OFF.

Crops are not 100% but based on a pixel size. Download the full-sized JPGs to check it at 100%.

K3 Crazy Mirror Sickness (Mirror Flapping Lockup) - Report Yours Here!

My K3 is fairly "recent" too and I also get these "ocasional bursts" that don't produce any files. I do however use the camera mostly for spots - thus gunning it all the time. Sounds like all K3-s are prone to it, but they've kinda solved it through the firmware.

Guys why don't you check out the Huelight profiles? It's still not even close to what an average Nikon user has access to in LR, but it's a lot better than only being stuck to the default and embedded ones.

K1 profiles have just been added

Matt, you're a in minority of people around here whose photographs (most) are worthy of being shown, respect!

But I'm still craving to see a shot that would justify all these thousands (if not millions) of WR-praising posts. Anybody? Hundreds and thousands of cool shots of your WR-protected gear being exposed to all sorts of elements, but not a single truly-amazing photograph made with that same gear? Doesn't it sound kinda silly?

These whom it pleases - can consider this whole topic being nothing but a big, fat attempt in trolling.

Usually this is called "humor"... perhaps, I was addressing the wrong public, people tend to take anything - supposedly - anti-Pentax - in a very personal manner. I should try the same joke on a CaNikon forum - they'll surely get it...

I openly admit that I suck balls at "under-the-poring-rain" - photography and I'm unable to pull masterpieces when the sky is dark, light sucks and water droplets make everything blurry. Even WR doesn't help...:D But I'm wondering if I haven't made a mistake when I bought a K3? Should've gone with the K3II instead, it has the Pixel Shift in addition to WR, perhaps it's the answer!!!! ;):lol:

Good point, but I still want to see some poring rain masterpieces that justify the whole "we're so much better because we have WR" - attitude. :D:lol:

B.t.w. you're sensor might use some cleaning... or these are water droplets on the front element?

Let's put it this way, a picture of kids playing in a rain taken solely because you can - is worthless if its only value is in the fact that you took it.

Does this picture has any photographic quality? As far as I'm concerned - zero.

Unfortunately for these worshiping the WR, if a magazine wanted a picture of kids playing in a rain - that would have been a shot done under artificial rain, with big-arse studio lights. Camera's resistance to nature's elements wouldn't have made any difference.

---------- Post added 10-22-2015 at 02:38 PM ----------

Guys, come on, please don't turn it into another "WR-prizing" topic.

The pics that you were able to take thanks to WR - are not the point!

What I wan't to see - are the pics that were actually worth taking.

"Cool shots" don't count!!! But props for being brave! :)

It has to be a "masterpiece" that you can easily see as a cover of the [big name] magazine!

Lets start from the start - Pentax crowd is very proud of the WR-ability in Pentax gear.

To the point of:

Obviously some people around here are so proud to be the last photographer standing under the poring rain and still be able to shoot, that I'm dying (I kinda suspect that I'm not the only one) to see some shots that are actually "pride"-worthy.

Please, be kind to us - the ignorant buggers - and show at least one shot done under the poring rain/snow/dust storm - that would justify the whole WR-hysteria.

Main criteria:
-It has to be something that you wouldn't have been able to shoot if it wasn't for the WR
-The shot must be public-exposure-on-a-large-billboard worthy, which implies that your shot must have some artistic (Photographic with capital "P") quality to it

*these, obviously, do not apply to the above-shown example

A few notes:
-I know that this thread is somewhat provocative, but I'm inviting you to restrain from flaming.
-I use Pentax gear my-self, one of the reasons - the WR (I can show you some shots done standing chest-deep in the water with WR and non-WR lenses), so no - I'm not a troll from CaNikon land if you were meaning to treat me as such... :D:cool:

Sooooo, lets see it!!! Don't be shy!!!

Why do these low-light flashed pictures look so well?

Surprised nobody has mentioned a pocket bouncer. I had very good results with these, granted that the last time I shot a "party-light" event - I had a NIkon rig where camera meters properly regardless of where the flash is pointing.

Haven't shot with a flash gun since I've picked up a Pentax setup again. Have they corrected the metering issues when the flash is pointed elsewhere but in the face?

Interesting...

Do we need to turn it into another pointless RAW vs JPG discussion?

Why does a rhetorical allusion to a situation where a SOOC JPG photo might have more value than a perfectly-developed RAW photo - generates so much heat?

Hey, I'm all for RAW my-self, but having done weddings and using my dslr gear mostly for sports right now - I can see both sides of the fence. Sorting and editing 2-3k shots is not exactly fun. Even if you only keep every 10th file - it's still 200-300 shot to pump through a RAW converter at the end of the day. I may be happy with the results, but I'm still wishing I could get the same SOOC and use the time saved doing so on something else.

I also occasionally do portraiture where the time is taken to set up pretty much every single shot and I'm more than happy to fine-tune these shots in a RAW converter.

Some people here need to realize that there's a abyss between you taking pics of you kitty and flowers and people who actually do make money with their gear on a daily basis. Out there "good enough" is good enough and if a photographer is good enough to get sell-able JPGs SOOC - why not?

There's no really right or wrong away - it's what (and when) you're comfortable with that matters.

He's clearly better than 99% of posters around here, but "amazing"??? In what sense exactly?

Lol, perhaps because the one who was shooting SOOC JPGs has managed to catch the right moment or simply knew what he/she was doing. As oppose to the one who was shooting RAW on his/her fancy camera and who was worried more about things like bokeh rather than what this particular picture is all about. :D

What I really meant to say - is that for the end user the content is lot more important than technical details. A "bad" SOOC JPG photo with meaning in it - is worth a lot more than a perfectly-developed RAW file that has no emotional value what so ever.

I'm perfectly aware of it, actually a good friend of mine makes her living out of weddings and her take on the whole RAW vs JPG issue is like: "Only these who can't photograph for sh@t shoot RAW!!!"

I don't quite agree with it, but I don't argue anymore - in any case she's a lot better at it than I am.

On the other hand, (at least in my experience), higher level camera bodies do tend to suck at JPG. So as far I'm concerned - using a D800 camera to pump out pretty mediocre quality JPGs from it - isn't too bright - no matter how good you are at guessing the exposure and WB.

But then again, as far as clients go - they aren't looking for the best image quality, but for good enough pictures.

And yes - RAW is very time-consuming.

Lol, a few years ago I had a wedding to attend to as a guest, so I brought my K5II+70ltd along to keep myself busy (read - to avoid social talk with people who do not interest me). There was also a photo/video crew to cover the whole thing, so... somewhere along the show I've got to talk with the official photographer and I was kinda intrigued by the fact that he was shooting straight JPGs. Good for him - who am I to judge? Long story short - in the days that followed I've processed and shared the photos that I took, which later turned into bride calling me and asking for full-size files for their wedding album since the photos from the hired crew turned out kinda unworthy. All that to say that K5II was more than adequate to shoot in a rather dim reception hall, but you need to know what you're doing and having a selection of fast lenses definitely helps (50-135 would have been a perfect tool for the job). On the other hand - if you're there for nothing but fun, K-body + LTD primes is so inconspicuous that people tend to not take you seriously and you get some very cool and natural shots.
