Thanks for adding that Marcus! I just did a review of one of those Chinese mounts. Terrible is the word to use. I felt the lenses were going to fall off. How could they possibly make such bad mistakes in the machineing???

I do really value all my Tamrons. If you take a look at my ebay listings under kacansas51 you will find a bunch of pictures onmy listings. On the 2 lenses, only the pictures of scenes were taken with the lenses for sale, all the rest with A 24mm 01BB, 01A 35-80 in macro mode or a 52A also in macro mode. With the 01BB I found I had a problem with resolution at about 400% crop so I switched to the macro lenses for the closeups of threads or other features. Oh most of the 01BB photos were taken at f16 or f22. I couldn't get a good pic with macro mode with the 01A or 52A with the apertur that far closed. Many more taken with the same lenses are on my Alan C. Wilson | Flickr flikr account. Ok not the ones of eagles and other scenes. Just the photos of lenses.

I have bought 7 more of the OP/TECH rear lens caps with the seal for Pentax K mount lenses. Most of those are on my adaptalls. I know what good is a seal if the rest of the lens isn't sealed? I figure that the 01BB, 01A, 23A, 52A, 19AH do not pump as much air in and out as my Sigma AF lenses which may extend 3 to 7 inches when zooming in on something. The only Sigma that doesn't do that is the 28 to 80. My other prime lenses also do not pump much air till you get into the over 200mm length. Given the extreme temp changes in MN plus the extreme humidity changes I thought it best to keep lenses as sealed as possible. Plus now that we are on fixed income I may never be able to afford Pentax WR lenses. If you guys didn't know these things are on sale on Adorama and even on Ebay. cost around $10 with "shipping" unless you buy a bunch then it's closer to $9.00. Ok it's a plug for someone but I really like them. Maybe just because they don't fall off the lenses.

i started reading about the camera industry downturn today. It has helped me understand why perfectly good or great Tamron Adaptall lenses are selling at very low prices. Not as many people ready to spend money on new camera bodies must equal less interest in 3 or more decade old lenses. I have many of the adaptalls that I wanted now with only a desire for a 200-500 f5.6 left and maybe a 17mm. But what do I do with them in the future when I am no longer able to take photos?

Yes to get good shake reduction you double the focal length when adding a 2X teleconverter. However I do not know which camera body you are using and some of them do not allow shake reduction in all modes. Check your owners manual.

These pics are from my eBay auction taken with the Spiratone 135mm f/2.8 . I was able to trace this design back to Karl Ziess Jena, after them it was sold to Schneider-Kruzenach (forgive my spelling) then Fred Spira got them to license a company to make it with a different zebra striped focusing barrell and sell it under his Company's name sometime after 1952. I think mine was made in 1957 from the serial number of 27815E but I would like to know more if anyone knows more. The pics:

I have happened into the last version of the instructions which came with a PK/A mount off Ebay. I made some copies of it today if anyone needs it. It is a really big sheet of paper and cost 2.50 a sheet for the copies but then I did make sure the color, contrast and definiton was very good like the original. The guy probably hopes I never come back, Photographers! I will just mail it to you first class envelope. I don't know if I could shoot a good enough picture for a PDF. I will give it a try with a super wideangle.

I have the 60-300mm 23A on Ebay right now for .50 and today I was surprised by a person in Italy asking if I could get the shipping down to $20 which I couldn't. I told him all I knew about it's fungus condition. He responded that he couldn't buy but then went on to teach me a lot about the internals on the 60-300 which he said are rather easy to disassemble and told about precautions you have to take. Then came the surprise, he said he had done a number of 60-300's and other Tamron's which are well designed and serviceable except for the 26A. He tried to work on the 35-210mm once but found it much to complex and very difficult to reassemble and finished by saying he would never do one again. So the weight plus age plus I don't want to fix one means I won't be getting one of those. Darn it!

Ok, I will say I would be interested in getting one if it is a bargin price. So far the ones I have seen on Ebay are not at that price. Anybody seeing one for under $25 could send me a message telling me where to look. Thank You all for your information.

Thanks guys for sharing about the 26A. I thought it was a heavy one. I have a very nice Sigma AF FF 24-135 F2.8-4 that is nice but a bit large in diameter and gives good images. Also a Sigma AF f4-5.6(i think) that will be improved by a circular polarizer I just ordered along with Op/Tech rear caps with seals. Next I need to get some WR lenses. I already have some Op/Tech caps and like them on my short focal length lenses that don't pump much air. Needed a few more and so I bought spares.
I now have a nice 19AH and I can't see the 26A doing much for me. I really have the short end covered with 3 AF lenses at 28 or less, a 14, 19, 20, 24, 35, and 2 50's. At least most are small except for the Samyang 14 which is a wow of a lens!

Has anyone in this club tested this lens.??????????? From what i can find it seems to be not as good as what the sellers on Ebay want a person to think. I am a bit interested in it due to it's focal length range. Anyone who has one or has tested it please let me know what you think. one thing that bothered me was it's weight just for starters.

There are many SDM lenses that I would like to own but I can't see how I would explain it's failure to my wife. I now have 3 AF Sigma lenses all FF. An FA 50 and all the rest are MF lenses. Of my 4 wide angle focal length only one needs to be focused, the others have very short focusing ranges before infinity. All my longer stuff is fast enough for focus confirmation to help. Yes a lot of it is Legacy lenses but the images are great so why not use them?

I would have to pay someone to convert FD mount lenses since my old hands are not very steady any more. I am trading my entire Canon FD collection including a T90 with lots of it's accessories to a guy that doesn't like his K-3. Quite a lot of lenses and accessories plus 2 Adaptall-2 lenses for his Nikon gear. I did love shooting with the T-90.

Marcus I like that Canon Fd 400mm. It is actually rather compact and quick at 4.5. The images look really good! I don't think there is a mount made for Pentax for FD lenses.

I recently saw an XRP mount and it looked something like the P/KA mount. Does anyone know if it operates in the same manner as a P/KA mount in giving an aperture setting to the camera body?

Now that I have read the Wiki article I know that I have seen one of these frogs strangely enough close to our front door. We usually have a rainy spring from late March through as late a mid June during which you can hardly find a day in which to mow your grass. As I have mentioned I live between 2 huge parks. The western one is directly across the street and has 4 ponds fed from a stream that does a big loop around our small neighborhood with the eastern park being a larger wet land and only 9 houses down our side of the street that our house faces. The frog could have come from either direction. I was small but was an adult about 1"to 1.5 inches long. I remember because it was so green in an area where the background was brown or tan. Really stood out! Strangely enough we are not in a flood plain area. Our house is some 8 feet up from the street and the ground level around our house is easily 18-20 feet higher than the inside of the parks. Makes for lots of wildlife pictures when I have the time.

Wow, how small is that frog? I am not sure I have ever heard a Blanchards cricket frog. We get a lot of frogs and toads around out home and in the parks to the east and west. They sure have a good time with their serenades some nights.!

I am going to put up the pictures requested of the smallest 35mm f/2.8 film lens I have ever seen. Not shortest just smallest diameter. It was an early product of Soligor with Lens Made In Japan in small letters on its mount. It is a T-2 42mm thread mount and the widest part of the lens at the focus ring is just 54mm. I use a 52mm cap inside the rubber hood since not even a 49mm cap was small enough for the filter threads. The Spriatone 135mm f/2.8 was another lucky find since I wanted one for my K-5 Limited Silver Edition camera body. Looks cool and that is it's function. However the little 35mm was a big surprise. It takes nice medium wide pictures and excels at wide scenic vistas. I include a shot taken with it this evening of my street and fall trees. I took a comparison shot of a Sigma 28-90mm f/3.5 - 5.6 digital zoom whose silver matches the body but it's not a good lens with the Spiratone 135 and the Soligor 35 to show its small size. I haven't figured out how to embed the pics in the test so here they all are:

I present my Meyer - Optik Gorlitz #2709931 Telemegor 5.5/400 lens. I have owned this about 20 years. In case you can't tell it is Heavy with a big H! It weighs 4 lbs 1.3 oz with caps and is 12.895 inches tall or 33 cm tall. I think it has 3 groups of around 6 elements maybe 7 but I could be way off. I could see 4 elements maybe 5 with my high intensity LED flashlight. I used the flash to light the big aperture of 19 blades at the front and found I really need to clean my lens or have someone clean it. It has been in storage a long time. I bought a 300mm f/4 Takumar (2nd version) in '03 and I started using it and a 800mm f8 I had bought around the same time. I have sold the 800. I really like this lens even though I can't see it being handheld it performs nice on a tripod. During my film days I managed a very useable picture of the top of a mountain using a 3X behind it. It is a bit beat up some of which I take debit for and some before I bought this. Interestingly enough the local big camera store, National Camera and Video has a display case at their headquarters showing their newspaper ads and cameras from after the war and one 1957 ad has this exact lens pictured for a pretty good price in those days. All photos taken with a Tamron Adaptall-2 01A 35-80mm f/2.8-32 Macro with the aperture taken in Macro at 80mm. So enjoy:
