I had adopted Malakai about a week earlier. His previous humans' last words to me were, "Promise us he will get to run." A week or so later, I sent them this photo. Single exposure.
No motor drive or similar. LOCATION: Waldport, Central Oregon Coast.

Outstanding pictures this month. My vote goes to #3 which I think is brilliant. The hand shows age and character which necessarily inhabit the space in which he is invisible.. Put another way, the viewer automatically extrapolates from that hand, and the walking stick, when mentally filling in the blank space. Because the blank space is jet black, as if to say "there is nothing but nothingness here," the trick of making the viewer reflexively fill it in, is all the more impressive.

I took this on a cold January morning in Greenwich Village, N.Y., N.Y. Behind me, in Washington Square, snow was on the ground and a man was playing a grand piano.

Although her accent made it difficult for me to follow I gather her speech was about the duties of union members.

Sometimes an image captures an idea better than words can do it. This gorgeous picture is an example. This photo conveys the idea of "wrap" in a way that the word cannot. I nominate it!

A monochrome gas station is a rare find. They were usually built in monochrome towns. As people moved away to multi-colored towns, their former homes fell into disrepair, and monochrome gas stations like this one were the only structures to remain standing in places like Monochromeville, AK.

What a gorgeous picture. I love the asymmetry of the tree on the right, set against the symmetry of the parallel lines. The color of those lines is also perfect. I would love to have that on my wall. Superb.
