Agreed, apart from that: The human eye is a very poor optical device. E.g. The brain fills in all the gaps in the images the eyes produce. It's only sharp in the very center and has extremely low boarder sharpness. Mimicing the human eye would be a very stupid thing to do.
About Emacs: I've never ever seen any positive note from him. Nor have I ever seen him actually post a photo in the gallery. Hé's just here to troll.

From what I see, that article is only talking about defocus estimation. So you'll still have your blurry image, but you'll know how blurry it is :p
The human eye's "AF" is both software and hardware; yes, it is actually focusing.
I'll ask you again: who the h*ll are you to decide what I should use? Find a Sony forum (since that's what you're using now) and go there, instead of nagging us.

Well my K-5 front focusses at low light and my K20D doesn't. Slightly out of parallel focus lines make no difference in the real world as you can see the FF is far more than that. i.e they are easily accurate enough to show the fault. And I can repeat these tests ad infinitum. And as I'm not lying with these tests than there's nothing to be not convinced about in terms of the camera bodies I own.
Of course it's fair not to be convinced that all K-5s have the problem as severe as my copy. In fact I'm not convinced that is the case either and that's why I am now going to look into getting a replacement.
One thing we can say for certain is that 1.03 has NOT fixed the FF fault on all K-5s. :)

hello, although i am a bit (a lot) dissapointed by the ff problems ,i must admit that kr do a very good job for video.I think kr manual states that video recording is only in auto mode..which is not exactly true. With a manual lens (asahi pentax smc 50mm 1.7 is what i have bought used for 80 euros) you can have full access to manual settings for video and the fact that is 1.7 f (very fast) can produce noiseless video. In order to change all the settings you want (this can be only done with manual lens) you select the P ,change the settings you want and then u lock the exposure with AE-lock.Then you turn to video mode without re-lock the exposure and all the previous settings you made are there.

yeah, well, I was going to put them on ebay and maybe try and sell them for like $8-10 shipped on here to help out fellow members. But yeah, will update when (if) I actually get them.

I took the plunge and updated the firmware even though I don't know what benefits it's supposed to bring. My focus in AWB is spot on, but I'm pretty sure it was before on my unit as well.
Previously I had a severe battery indicator inaccuracy issue. So far that seems to be rectified but I think it's too soon to tell. Hopefully I'll be able to get a better feel for whether it's placebo effect with more use tomorrow.

My pleasure guys. :D
I do receive a notification. It comes up in the Private Messages area in the top right hand corner - stating "Unread Picture Comment/s". Of course, this doesn't notify of updates on my comments to others photos, but certainly does let me know if any of you have commented on anything in my Album.
Is this not the same for you all?...or have I misinterpreted? :o

I'm not a specialist in optics either ;)
In the text preceding the tables, they explain symbols W (half angle of view) and f (focal length). The rest is using your pocket calculator. Image diagonal = 2f tan(W) and divide by sqrt(24^2+36^2) to get 1/crop factor. BTW, the other tables are equally ok. Look at the table's headers. The tables describe configurations Pentax has actually examined in detail. One of them would describe the product. Fortunately, they are all very similiar. It may be they provide several tables to obfuscate the actual production parameters (protection against Chinese lens makers). Some of the lenses are P&S and all their lens patents seem to look like this.

You can probably get the images back if you let the card dry out but I think I would ditch the card after that. The contacts might work for now but could corrode. Either way, let us know how it turns out! |

Was out shooting one day. Came home, forgot I had a card in my pocket, and tossed my pants in the laundry. Washed them a few days later and found the card in the bottom of the washer. Let it dry out for almost a week (just to be certain). Popped it in the card reader, and everything was fine. No issues with the card to this day. BTW, it was a cheap Kingston, Sandisk, or no-name card.

I would clean the SD card with a soft, very clean cloth and then put it to dry outside in a shady area during a dry, sunny day.
During a cold winter, I would leave the card indoor overnight in a warm place, next to, but not on, a heater.

recently had a card get wet with seawater (UW camera that leaked) and once home, I stuffed it into the card reader and it was fine. A wash in fresh water straight away wouldn't be a bad idea but if it's been a while since it was initially dunked, wouldn't make much difference, the corrosion would have already started. I'd think that letting it dry out before trying to read it would be the most important bit... get your images off and then turf it!
