Thank you for your prompt answers. Your answers have made it easier (cheaper) for me to learn more about photography since I can get a used film lens to play with in ambient light.

I am looking at getting a 50mm lens to help with taking pictures in lower lighting areas. What I would like to know is if the old film lens f 1.4 is equal to the f 1.4 digital lens since a digital sensor is smaller footprint then 35mm film is? So would the film lens be darker than a newer digital lens on a digital camera?

They need to make waterproof lens more affordable. If the kit lens were waterproof it would be like a jeep product prettymuch ready to hit the trail. No need to worry about weather ruining your $800 camera. That would be fairly smart marketing, pentax owners out in the storm while everyone else is finding a window to shoot through.

I think it was linens and things that went bankrupt near me. I went i to see if there was anything i needed, a liquidation company had taken over. There was stuff in that store that they had never sold before. The prices were still unreasonable at 50% percent off. Target was still cheaper and you could pay with a credit card.

Mabey a lens or camera should travel with a theme? like, vacation, pets, adventure, or work. One could get one to travel in a certain area, like Europe or the U.S.

Could i suggest people post pictures to the lens review forum to show the problems they have with a lens, or its good atributes. I know i could very possibly give a lens a bad review, when its my bad technique. This sugestion may make lens review more objective, will help people's technique, and help us spend money on what counts.

go for christmas light before they all get taken down. Night in winter makes some neat stuff with all the lights that are on. Go over to the old Thunderbird hotel north of the MOA. it has low pressure sodium lights in the parking lot, the lighting is horrible, but people come to photograph stuff under them. any winter events are fun. Try the dog parks for fun action to shoot. go down by the calhoon beach club, their is always some recreation to shoot down their. Koch refinery down towards hastings is neat. Anywhere their is open water like the cooling water outlets at powerplants. Sit by the exit of a carwash on a dam cold day.

Don't forget about step rings. For $7 you can use filters from other lenses or be able to carry just one set of filters.
