Just a little note about the warranty card thing. There is no reason you should ever submit a warranty card to begin with...there's no positives and a handful of negatives (such as a future owner of the product not being able to claim it was a gift). These days they're nothing but a way of collecting marketing information. Feel free to submit them under fake monikers and wait to see what kind of interesting junk mail this made up person receives.

I don't think the complaints with this lens have ever been performance or sharpness, they've been complaints with the contrast compared with other Pentax primes.

Yeah, those metal lugs are a huge upgrade. Everyone I've talked to has had this issue with the flash.

I would more say that the K20D is discontinued rather than outdated. Unless video and fast FPS at full resolution are needed to be modern, it does everything you need to take stunning pictures at high resolution.
That's the beautiful thing about cameras. They may continue to make new bodies, lenses, add new features, etc. I'm glad they do, that keeps these companies afloat. But cameras rarely become outdated...just overlooked.

Ooof, I'll try making the Orlando date, despite the fact that it's in the middle of the tourist warzone. Why does everyone always think having conventions and meetups in the Disney area is a good idea? Locals avoid that area at all cost :p

Great lens when you get past the fact that you can't trust the cameras metering with it. Many say it's a sharper lens than the 1.4.

My guess is that Pentax's first goal is to make retailers happy. Current Pentax users aren't going anywhere. Retailers haven't been too keen on stocking Pentax's products lately. I agree that it's crappy that people ordering directly from Pentax don't seem to have the red carpet treatment you would expect, but it's probably in the best interest of all Pentax users for retailers to get their orders filled promptly and in full to keep them happy.
