Here's a quick couple. I picked up a used K-01 from KEH a couple of weeks ago and I'm still playing with it.

Lowell,
I don't plan on using the flash. mainly I'd like to use it/practice first on landscapes to get comfortable with all the manual adjustments. then move on from there. I have a feeling it might take me a while. I've seen several K200 and K10 at a reasonable price. I might go that way first and then onto the K-5 or K30 depending on how much I like manual focusing.

Everyone,
thanks for all the great info. looks like I might try an older body with a new focus screen with the magnifier. sounds like the best way to get started.

Batty,
does this magnifier work with all pentx dslrs? if I don't use a tripod very often, is live view still ok to use or is the optical viewfinder better? thanks

Hello everyone,
I wanted some thoughts/suggestions about what DSLR would be best for a couple of manual focus lenses that I just picked up. 28, 50, 135 and 200 primes are the lenses.
I know all the pentax dslr's will work with these lenses but are there ones that work better than others. (easier to use, nicer focusing screens). I was thinking of the K-01 because of the Live View or does that not make a difference.
thanks for the help

RT1,
excellent , just what I was looking for. some actual real life examples. I thing right now after reading through everyones responses I'm leading towards getting either the 35 f/2 or 50 f/1.4 and the 16-45 f/4 to cover the wider FOV that I might need indoors. thanks for taking the time to post some photos.

i was planning on going to the MET and the Clositers in New York. they both allow photography just without the flash. I was just trying to get peoples opinions and suggestions on what would be a good start and what they have found to be useful.. thanks

Right now I've got a sigma 18-125 and a pentax 100-300. I would say most of the time I will use the sigma from 50 to 100, for the kids, but when I'm at a museum, I usually keep it as wide as possible since everything is so cramped. The 35 f/2 looks like an excellent option. I would like to actually try these out but no local shop carries pentax gear. so that's why i'm here asking for practical real world opinions on how they perform. thanks

Dan,
just the advice I was looking for. As for the shops that carry pentax stuff, here in NH i'm severely limited. The local Ritx treats pentax like the plaque and Hunts has everything of back order, so I don't have many options outside of going to BH or adorama. I was wondering what your opinion is on the 35 f2 vs the 40 ltd.

Howdy,
I was wondering if anyone could give me some suggestions/advice on selecting my first set of prime lenses. I have a k10d and would like to shoot indoors without a flash (museums, etc) and would like to get one or two to get me started. I've looked and some online stores and many of them seem to be back ordered. thanks for help.
