My submission was kicked out of the system because my Pentax image was shot on film and scanned on a Nikon scanner.
I have redone the file with no EXIF data and have come back here to re-submit the file as directed. However, there appears to be no way to attach the new file.
I would really like to participate in these photo contests but so far it just doesn't seem possible.

That's very disappointing. It's shown in the submittal thread but not in the voting thread. Looks like some pix were submitted later than mine and they still made it in ... so that can't be the reason... ???

My entry is not showing up here. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can fix that?
Thanks.

How about adding a film scanning review section for the "Welcome to the Software and Pentax Accessory Review Database"? I hope there's still some of us shooting primarily film.
Film scanners are getting harder and harder to find, so I guess flatbed scanners with film attachments might also fit into this topic ... ??

I am correct in assuming that there is no more color IR film made for 35mm cameras?

Thanks. Is there an easier way to find which is their thread, other than manually opening each one until you find the picture that matches the one posed in the actual contest thread itself?

If I want to contact one of the photographers to tell him/her how much I like their photo, is there a way to do that?

Not trying to be a wise guy here, but does it necessarily have to be a person (human)?

Hope I am doing this right; it's my first contest submission. Please advise if I need to add/change something.
Thanks, Bob

Quite a complete list of camera bodies. I never knew most of them even existed.
Looks like I'm the only one -so far - who uses a Spotmatic IIA (admittedly a fairly obscure variant).
I also inherited an MX body but I never got used to it.

I'm just now getting the chance to look through this entire thread, and I am truly impressed with the quality of the images. There are some very talented people here.
At some point, I may post a few more in this thread since film is all I've ever shot, with the exception of about 50 images (total) with my K100D.

I've found Kodachrome to have a very narrow exposure latitude. Even half a stop off, and you can tell. I'll miss it, but I think I can live with Velvia quite comfortably.

Hi. New guy here.
I took these with my Spotmatic IIa, 20mm SMC Takumar, Kodachrome, exposure unrecorded, Nikon CoolScan V. The temperature was below 0°F. Chicago lakefront. |

If you're just looking to share pictures on-line, I would think that the entry level scans would be sufficient.
I have a Nikon slide/film scanner and it cost about $600. It gives scans with an optical resolution of 4000 dpi, which results in a 65 meg file that's 6000 x 4000 pixels. But if I post on-line, or even just want to look at the images on my computer monitor, I find that 1280 x 1024 is plenty of resolution.
I do believe that cheaper flat-bed scanners do a poor job with film and slides. And I agree that scanning prints is not the way to go. There's incredible amounts of dust and dirt on even a clean print. The good slide scanners have an infrared sensor system that detects dust sitting on the surface of the film, and removes it automatically.

Happy New Year!
I've had my Spotmatic IIa since 1973, and am getting back into photography after about a 10 year break. Recently did some research on the newer camera technologies and I've decided that I'll be staying with this camera and its M42 buddies for quite a while.
Looking forward to sharing info and stories with other Pentax owners.
Robert
