Welcome!
It’s interesting how we all arrive here. I used Pentax film cameras, so the choice was logical, but the way the cameras feel in my hands is very comfortable, and they just feel *good*.
For however long you’re here, enjoy it. :)

Juvenile Bald Eagle
It's not often I get decent shots like this one, so it's time to share it when I do.
Near Delta, BC the eagles gather around this time every year - this year many more than usual. It provides some interesting photo ops.
This image of a juvenile Bald Eagle eating a piece of meat was taken with a K-5 and DA* 300mm f4 lens with F 1.7x AF adapter all on a tripod. ISO 320, 1/400s, f8.
The image is edited and cropped only, but not resized.

I rediscovered DE shaving about eighteen months ago and have been enjoying the traditional wet shaving experience since then. It gives me the best results short of using an SE or straight razor, both of which I feel would not be good in my hands. Here's a picture of a razor the same as my most aggressive yet best shaver, the Mühle R41, legendary blood letter. The motto is to do what works for you, enjoy it, and don't let anyone tell you differently. :) |

Welcome! I'm in Tsawwassen.
For camera gear, try Broadway Camera. Also The Camera Store in Calgary are excellent for pricing and deliver within 2-3 days. And if you're Downtown, go to Gastown Photo in Waterfront Centre close to the food court.
London Drugs is pretty good, and I believe they will price match . . . possibly even after the fact.

Hey Bud.
I have done the research already for my next Vegas visit. Do some Google research and you'll find all you need to know.

I don't know much about the area, but check out:
- Saguaro National Park in Tucson (we did Saguaro National Park West and so cannot vouch for East)
- Pima Air and Space Museum (you'll love it - large collection and amazing variety)
- Davis Monthan AMARG (boneyard). Bus tour. Worth seeing at least once in your life.
Also:
- Titan Missile Silo
- San Xavier del Bac mission.

Well, if you go for the DA* 50-135mm f2.8, then pair it up with the Sigma 18-35mm f1.8.
That should cover your bases very nicely.

I agree with you completely.
I was thrust into Pentax when I was 14 yrs old, but have stayed with them for numerous reasons most of which are good.
Now having spent the time and effort choosing the brand, when someone criticises me for it, my last resort is to say it was a gift and I'm happy with it. This would be directed at folks who cannot and will not hear or listen to anything other than their own pre-formulated opinions. It's a way of directing their unpleasantness toward some fictional third party while still standing your ground. Remember, "Dumb is smart, and smart is dumb" - it removes competitiveness.
But I refuse to hide the brand with black tape or marker pens - I draw the line at that! :)

Sir,
Now that you have decided on the kit with 18-135mm lens, I would suggest your next purchases of quality lenses to be one lower focal length with a fast aperture and one higher length also fast aperture. Faster than f2.8 which rules out a zoom lens. Perhaps go immediately for the DA 35mm f2.4 and the DA 50mm f1.8, and after some use you will figure out what your common focal length is and spend more on a Limited like the FA 31mm f1.8, FA 43mm f1.9, FA 77mm f1.8, or DA 70mm f2.4.

Why? Just say it was a gift and you're happy with it.
