Very nice....I saw some nice looking technical stuff with DOF, etc...
I shoot live bands with my Q & K-01....it's pretty raw but sometimes they come out pretty well.. :) Youtu.be |

I use the Pentax strap that came with the camera. Mostly shooting with primes or short zooms so not too nose heavy.

Shake reduction was on.
I was thinking about shoulder mount but the flycam/steadicam style seems a little more interesting.

For the way I want to shoot, a tripod would be too static. For example, It would have been difficult to catch her moving around at the end using a tripod.
A stabilizer is probably more useful for what I'm doing....more stuff to buy,,,,,:)

I've been getting more experience with my K-01 and as part of this effort, I shot "She Makes War" (Laura Kidd).
The venue was a spectacle shop in London and was part of a festival called "City Showcase" which supports up and coming artists of all types.
I shot some video and took some stills using both my 16mm Zenitar as well as the 40mm XS. I used the internal stereo mic with the
sensitivity turned all the way down.

The video was shot using the 16mm. You may want to watch it full screen to get the full HD effect.

I just tried it and can hear the left/right directionality. I guess someone goofed on the specs.

I guess the point to take away from this is the audio on the Q is very good...at least in these examples. Unless they've really changed the design drastically, I would expect the Q10 to be just as good if not better.

I was about 10 to 15 feet away. I was shooting with the 01 prime. I was very surprised by how well the camera handles loud audio without distortion...it's a pretty amazing
camera....

The specs do say that it's mono only. Even though there are two holes on the base of the camera, I guess they both channel the sound to a single mic element.
Having said that, I've found that I haven't noticed much difference in the audio quality. My previous Pentax video experience has been with a K7 and an external mic (ATR-6250) and the sound on the Q is as good if not better than anything I've shot with the K7. For background info, I'm usually shooting video of bands in iffy lighting. Here are some examples: Pentax K7 & ATR 6250 external mic You Tube |

Not a lot of difference for the type of things I'm shooting.

I recently purchased a K-01 with the 40mm DA F2.8 XS pancake lens and I decided to test the video mode on a friend's band: Youtu.be |
src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/Rf15HeAch7Y?controls=1" allowfullscreen> |
Notes:
- Keeping the camera pointed up is a little tiring, I kept cutting the singer's head off!
- I think I need to turn the mic gain down a little next time. The camera was automatically limiting the sound too much. I was using the built-in stereo mic, by the way,
Overall, I'm pretty impressed with K-01 so far.

I use Autostitch AutoStitch
It works ok but I'll have to check out ICE and Hugin and see if they're any better.

Re: Audio
I didn't do anything special at all. The built in mic and AGC circuitry is pretty impressive handling loud music without clipping. The only mildly disappointing issue is that it is mono only but you really don't notice the lack of stereo.
The sensor does overheat after awhile (the red thermometer symbol appears) but I haven't had the camera shutdown on me while filiming. The longest continuous shooting I've done is probably 15 to 20 minutes. The sensor does seem to cool down faster than my K7. It's an amazing camera...:)

Thanks!
Yes, it was shot handheld in a club. The stage was actually pretty well lit for a change and they weren't using weird colors either which was nice! :p

Interesting!
I just bought my Q from Amazon UK a couple of weeks ago for £449. This was the twin lens kit (01 & 02) lens. SRS is offering the 01 Prime plus a choice of the "toy" lenses which aren't desirable to some...even so, that's a pretty good price....

I like autostitch. Just feed in a series of overlapping images and it will do the rest...you don't have much control over how it stitches the images together which would probably bother some people...

Some snaps I took up in London last weekend. Some shots in well lit areas and a lot of shots in a club that was not very well lit. This was my first outing with the camera. PentaxQ_London_28-April-2012 | Facebook |
