its got some pretty nice features and like the poster above me says ... companies have to do this to appeal to the ultra-zoom loving, non-slr savvy, nuveau-riche clientele ...

Hello people,

I just bought a used SMC Pentax FA 28-80mm AF lens off eBay for cheap (at least i thought it was reasonably cheap - $30).

Do any of you personally own this lens? How do you like it?

doh! i'm so dumb! :(

you're right ... i was letting go of the shutter too early ... also, all my tests were in low light conditions, so it took the camera a while before it took the next photo :)

so now it's taking three successive photos... much better!

I had a question about autobracketing ... if I ask it here, will that be considered thread-hijacking?

actually let me just provide a link to the question:

autobracketing in k2000

hello guys,

i'm a newbie and just stepped up to a dslr from a PnS. I have the K2000 and had a question about the auto-bracketing mode. actually, to be more precise, i have a question about bracketing itself and how to do HDR using bracketing.

so i want to try out HDR and did some research about it; it seems you have to take around 5 images of the same subject at different exposures (1 f-stop apart in Av mode, for example) and then use a software like photoshop to process all the images into one image. Please correct me if I'm wrong. So, I will basically have to take 5 different photos, right?

Now, I was trying the auto-bracketing mode in the K2000 and it only takes one picture. Is this the expected result? I expected it to take multiple images with different exposures. Am I doing something wrong?

Also, while I have your attention, do you guys know of any good, Free, software that does HDR processing?

Thanks guys!

i'm in! since i'm a beginner (and also not all that familiar with the bay area), i'm really not sure where we could go and what we could shoot, but: we could do santa cruz or san francisco - good coffee/beer/meal places and lots of nice landscape/seascape options :)

i'm open to any place as long as we're meeting on the weekends! :D

i think the k2000 and k200d are almost the same price. in retrospect, i should have bought a k200d ... not that i regret buying a k2000 or anything, i love it, but i coulda used the weather-sealing and more auto-focus points that the k200d has...
