Smart Vision had a good quarter as one can read in the report. That is a sum of all parts in the camera business of wich the GRIII and Theta are named. Those are Ricoh branded camera's and Ricoh likes to name their own branded products and are a bit quiet about Pentax the last year (s).
I don't think GRIII is a niche product in a small company like Ricoh-Imaging. Their initial production in the quarter before was like 15.000 units and the last quarter could well be the same. That is a big chunk of the sales of Ricoh-Imaging.

That is the problem with the old design of Pentax electronics with lots of wires and connections inside, where others like Sony only have a few of them left.

I think Sigma probably would have liked the deal of Tamron in delivering lenses under the Pentax brand made in their factory. Those lenses are payed for by Ricoh-Imaging at the doorstep. No inventory on your risk. By missing out on such a deal.....well it does get less interesting.

If there is any importance to it, we do see a lot of announcements of corporations working together online and in press releases. That is a good way of free publicity. Maybe you don't read news sites that cover business news.
Don't fall on the floor for laughing to hard.

The next shipment (according to Ricoh-Imaging USA): ---------- Post added 10-09-19 at 16:55 ----------
That would be cool, except that when I Google on it, I don't find anything on it.

I think that is the most important. Over time I feel that only the images I printed (single print or in a photobook) are the once that are important. The rest......well just digital leftovers.

There can be a lot of different reasons why the spread out to the market for the Z1 is the way it is. I don't know. For a product announced in februari that never reached full supply to the market it is a bit strange. Maybe production is a bit more difficult then expected or maybe one of the supplyers of parts isn't running as fast as the rest. There is production and there is delivery to the market and there are people wanting to buy it. So it is just odd that some people have to wait so long to get a hold on their desired Z1.
There is no negativity in this. This is just an analysis of what is happening. A forum like this should be the place where one can find answers to these questions. ---------- Post added 10-09-19 at 14:32 ----------
The ships captain then certainly isn't a Dutch man like Abel Tasman

To me it looks like there are still production issues since the Z1 is still not available in large quantaties. No idea on what it is hanging, but it only comes out of the factory in small numbers.

Camera stores don't have it easy over the past 10 years. From the rise of the camera market to the rush towards online sales to the the decline of the market over the past years. You need to be selective to where your money as a store is invested in stocking items. The less you sell the less productive the invested money in stock is.

I think the if is in place here. This could well be an answer to a not fully understand question. Not developing new lenses for K-mount is very different then stopping sales of currently offered lenses. There is no sign on this stopping on the site for the BeNeLux at the moment. Ofcourse some of the currently offered lenses will stop eventually.

Last year there was an accident in the USA with employees of the Dutch firm ASML (they make the maChinese where the wafers for our sensor come from). They had not much chance in that accident. They rented a small European like car and had an accident with a truck. ASML accident
If employees now go overthere there will be a large vehikel rented and not a small one anymore.

I easily spend 15k euro on new Pentax gear over the course of 6 years. On lenses, camera body's and flashes. Next to that I did have a lot of side stuff for studio work and field work from other brands and some second hand goods of Pentax. Good spend money, since most of it was good and doing the job and others where easily to sell off. When I look at it as a hobby, then things have to contribute to my fun in life and needs to be easy, good images delivering and not to expensive.

My photography was business related. If I start again, that won't be the case. There is simply no real business opportunity overhere (as far as my interest goes). That changed a lot over the past years. So spending money on a hobby is very different then investing in a business. ---------- Post added 07-09-19 at 19:55 ----------
Do you feel that you should have a say in wich subject is of a concern to whoom? Or do we live in a free world and can we loose sleep on all subjects we want?
To answer.....I do remember dates and numbers very good, so it is not to difficult for me to put a timeframe on things.

Back in the old days one had to be an appreciated photographer publishing his work to be more credible on their opinion. Now anyone who says he is credible demands to be important.

Well Nikon in a way did this with the D700. D700 2012 Digital Cameras Discontinued
So the camera could make 5 fps, but with the extra grip it could do 8 fps.
There was a way to go around this (forgot how) and you could trick the camera to do 8 fps without the grip  ---------- Post added 07-09-19 at 16:32 ---------- Pentax had this strange thing with the K-01. It could do RAW images only at 1 fps. But when you put it on bracketing it could do 3 frames very fast with altering the light settings in +- 1/3th stop. Also just a software trick.

That AOc didn't ring any bells at my door. So if a name change is coming then Takumar would be fine too.
