There's video interview with Takahiro Tomohiro Noguchi on DC Watch about the GR III. Noguchi-san is someone very closely associated with the GR. He runs the GR blog site. I saw him interviewed about Ricoh cameras before the Pentax acquisition, so I'm sure he is from the Ricoh side originally.
For the most part it's just what we've heard before. He stresses hat this not a minor change but the whole camera is redesigned from the ground up. The interviewer comments on how the Gas all look the same since 1993. Nogichi-san answers that every time they go through a process of considering other designs, but when they think about the use of the camera, they come back to a similar design. He does say that users are going to feel more of a change when they operate it.
What I found interesting were his comments about demand for the camera. He said that over the years smartphones have taken sales away from compact cameras, but that the GR is stable. It has not been affected at all. He also said that the camera is particularly popular in Asia and China in particular.
Here's the video for anyone who can understand. Youtu.be |

I don't see how the K-30 predicts anything really. That was a 'Hoya' product and seeing that the 'flagship' models are just updated K-5's I think there may be a much greater departure from the K-30 than you might think. It's possible that a 24mp K-02 or K-3 is just around the corner but it could well be that Ricoh put that project out with the trash and got Pentax up and running on the new work they want to get started on.
The HD lens 'series' was mentioned in the Pentax press release, the '560 being the first born, but I'm not aware of much discussion of the implications of this. If Pentax miss the chance to make a FF series of lenses this time around (using the HD series) I think that it's safe to assume they aren't considering a FF in a serious way. Further painting oneself into a corner is not conducive to change as fast as may be required.
I also don't see why they can't release an anniversary FF LX-D and offer it along with the three Amigo's in a Limited Edition kit. What's to stop them from restarting an old AF Film body but with digital electronics? Do the production facilities still have that capability?
But I expect they will get into MILC more and more as that has to be the cheapest lower risk option when you're in a small corner of the market. Then again: Pentax "found some issues and challenges" but "continuing to develop full frame technologies" | Photo Rumors |

In my industry, I saw a big player go bankrupt four (that's right, four) times in about 15 years. They finally got it right and reincarnated themselves as an impact player in my industry. As an aside, the US Federal government rightfully saw their four trips into Bankruptcy Code Chapter 11 as an abuse of the system, and subsequently limited the number of times a company may go bankrupt.
Just because Pentax has had two owners in what? four years? does not doom it to a slow (or fast demise). Either Ricoh ownership is a good thing or not. Or another way of stating this is to ask if Ricoh management is a collection of buffoons who can't make a decent acquisition.
I come down on the side that Pentax will prosper. Too many people I meet want/need instant gratification, in this case in the form of overly rapid results from the Ricoh purchase of Pentax. It just don't happen that way.

You know the term fan is short for fanatic right? Also, fanboy is just a derogatory form of the term fan. And who can really say anything bad about cheerleaders really? I mean they are full of pep and stuff. Just saying.
