The flower image is very saturated, which will mask the detail. What post processing software are you using ?

Thanks for the comments - then the subject is too ordinary ? Uninteresting ?
I'm finding this to be a problem - disassociating subjects that mean something to me, in this case the house which I pass most mornings, and see in all kinds of light, from images that will have meaning for others who don't have the context that I do. In this case for me, the image was special because of the sun which is not always there, but it looks like I've ended up with an unremarkable image with sun on it ! LOL.
Looks like I have a lot to learn here.
Thanks all

Thanks to all for your encouragement. With Autumn coming there should be more opportunities for shots like this here in France. I'll do some more.

Just got my K7 & it seems the AF focus point selection is broken. If set to centre, the camera is still selecting the AF point. Am I missing something ? I hope so !

I've a K20D & I'm confused abut which raw file format to use. I use Bridge, ACR & Photoshop. I set the RAW format to PEF (cos the ACR doc says K20 supported via PEF) & convert to DNG on import. This takes time. the K20 supports DNG - but is this compatible with ACR ? I note that the Adobe DNG converter converts K20 DNG to (its own?) DNG so I'm guessing not ... Also which camera calibration setting do I use after import and convert to DNG ? Camera standard or ACR 4 or adobe standard ?
Any help appreciated

Ahh ! thanks to all who replied. I'm trying to make correct exposures, without relying on Post processing too much - as a discipline more than anything else. I also thought that maybe the equipment was faulty (Sensor, monitor etc) so now I know its *Normal* to adjust the Reds I'm happy. I have the same problems with yellows too ...
Thanks again

I'm trying to shoot some flowers - but I seem to get loss of detail - I first thought the problem was over exposure but the histogram looks OK - the flower heads seem oversaturated & as a result are lacking in detail - what do I do to get around this ? I've tried underexposure but it does not seem to help much. the shot was with K20D & DA 35mm 2.8 limited. The issue seems to happen with all my lenses to a greater or lesser extent
I can use camera raw to adjust saturation to get a pleasing image but surely it must be possible to expose this shot correctly with no need for post processing ?

Could someone help a beginner choose a wide angle Pentax prime lens for landscape shooting please. I have the K20D. I shoot a lot in low light - sunrises & sunsets. I have a DA 16-45 f4 & a Sigma 10-20mm which are OK, but I'd like better IQ. I seem to shoot at about 18-20mm most of the time for landscapes. Any help appreciated.

OK, I'll do this (as soon as it stops snowing) I reshot the roof with F18 F22 - and the sharpness and resolution match the Canon shot - so I learned something.
Thanks for being helpful
