Always carry a small beanbag in your camera bag. If you don't have your tripod along, but need to steady your camera, you can place the beanbag on a fence post, rock, sidewalk, hood of your car, etc., and rest your camera on top. The beanbag shapes itself to the rough, uneven, or angled surface, and protects your camera & lens as well.

Just before sunset I walked past one of the pools at the Parc Hotel Castelnuovo del Garda in northern Italy. I saw the 'upside down' umbrellas and deck chairs. I composed the shot to show only the reflected image instead of both the actual and the reflected.

How can I protect the back LCD?

I tried Optex's protective film, but removed it after a week because it seemed to cut down the LCD's natural brightness. It always left me wondering if I was really seeing accurate results or if the film was dimming the image. So I'm back to my 'naked' screen, which seems pretty robust.
