The first curtains seems to be still wrapped around the pinion shaft and the second is tensed. Yes, the bar is in good shape and slides easy. It's starting to seem like this repair won't be as simple as I was hoping and since the camera appears to be in good shape otherwise, I'll probably end up sending it to Eric for a CLA so I don't end up ruining it.

Thanks for taking the time to help! Pushing in the rewind button and moving the sprocket roller didn't do anything. The shutter curtains look to be half transported.

I haven't done a lot of tinkering yet for fear of damaging something. I pulled the bottom cover off and examined the mechanics and as I said, everything seems to be working as it should except for that one gear which seems jammed. There seems to be some sort of odd discoloration around that gear as well. I thought about maybe trying a drop or two of some penetrating oil but I'm not sure that's a good idea as I don;t want to oil getting somewhere it's not supposed to go.

Over the past year or so I have become very interested in film photography and collecting film cameras. As I've always enjoyed working with my hands, I wanted to learn more about repairing and restoring film cameras. Not wanting to disassemble one of my working SLRs I picked up an h1a with a jammed film advance lever for cheap to tinker with. Unfortunately I think I may have bitten off more than I can chew :o. From what I've read the most common issue seems to be with a misplaced lever (I believe it is the one circled below) which appears to be in the correct position.
The main problem seems to be with this gear which is very stiff and does not want to rotate (though I'm not certain it is supposed to).
The shutter button moves freely up and down as does the mirror, so the jammed lever appears to be the only problem. Any tips or advice that anyone has would be greatly appreciated as I;d love to get this camera working again since cosmetically it is in great shape. Thanks!

Something a little different for me, these were taken all around the Cal Poly campus at night. Most were taken with my Sigma 10-20. |

Thanks! I'm actually going to Cal Poly as well. The way I've handled doing HDR panoramas is to first stitch each set into individual HDR images and then stitch those together into a panorama. It's worked out well for me so far, though I've never tried doing it the other way.

As always, AMAZING work in this thread! I finally got out and had a chance to use mine the other day to shoot the sunset. Here's one of my favorites: |

Thanks! I was quite pleased with how these shots turned out. All in all it turned out to be a much better way to spend my evening than watching the Superbowl!

Thanks! I've really been enjoying your work. I just wish there were some old, abandoned buildings around me that I could explore.

I've been having lots of fun using this lens on a current project of mine which is taking nighttime shots from around my college campus. I usually use some amount of HDR processing to try and give the photos an imposing/gritty feel to them. |

Maybe you'll see me running around with my K-7! I'm not attending the workshop (just found out about it yesterday) but I'm usually out and about on the weekends, though I'll probably be stuck inside writing a chemistry lab report
The only time I've ever seen another Pentax was back in August during the Monterey Car Week. I actually saw a guy with a 645d, but before I could go up and start drooling over his camera he disappeared into the crowd. Probably a good thing. I don't need anymore temptations!

I can finally join this club! I got my 10-20 (the old version) a couple weeks ago but haven't had much time to try it out until this past weekend. I went on a hike to paradise meadow in Lassen National Park to get some shots of the sunset. This is an HDR panorama.
So far I love this lens!

I was wondering the exact same thing. I was looking to pick up a kit for my Spotmatic.
