Bought a feeler guage this morning - came right off.
Thank you so very much.
I have some brassing on the camera mount near the AF coupler - from the razor, I guess. What damage if any , could I have done? Should I Send for Pentax to check out?
Everything appears to work . The AF coupler works(up and down) but I'm not sure what the original position was? It appears to be rectangular at the top and is sitting almost horizontal.
I'll use it and see what happens.

You mean the lens release on the camera or the button on the lens aperture?

Thanks John, Thanks everybody - No luck though
I don't have the right tools to do this. Tried it with a razor blade - too dangerous.
I 'm not sure where the pin is. That's the problem.

It says KR on the aperture ring.

I put an older prospec auto-zoom 60-300mm lens on my K2000 today and can't remove it. The release button is depressed and has no spring action and the lens has a little movement but wont twist to the left to release.
The camera is less than a month old. Is this a result of the lens or does my camera have a faulty release??
Can anyone shed some light on this??
Thanks

I'm just getting back into photography after about 27 years. I learned on a K1000 and I enjoyed using it. Over the years I upgraded. The more automated the cameras became the worse my photos were.
I recently acquired a K2000 and manual lenses - some as early as 1957. It's the best of both worlds - manual photography - instant developing.
Dare your friend to shoot in manual mode - It takes as much work to set the automatic functions as it takes to set up a manual.

Thanks
These are 6 x 25 11.0 degree wide field. Since they say "Asahi Pentax" I suspect they are from 1957 or later. Obviously they are based on the 1948 Jupiter design.

I have a Pentax 110 to sell. I can include a set of the 3 base lenses and possibly a flash.
I haven't tested it yet but it fires when cocked.
Make me reasonable offer in the private e-mail section.

Hi,
I started collecting Pentax cameras in Dec.. To make a long story short - I have more cameras than I need -
I have 3 K2 DMD's 2 of which I was planning to put back on E-bay. Of the 2 One is being rebuilt.
If you are interested let me know.

The camera I posted on the other thread is from E-bay so I can't confirm wether or not it has a sticker or not.
The K 1000 appears to have had concurrent assembly locations throughout the 70's.
I have 3 more k 1000's but they are from the 80's -

Thanks for all the replies.
Right now on E-bay there 2 engraved Japan versions ,
AND there are 2 with serial #'s on top but it's only engraved Asahi Optical, Co.
These must be the ones with the Japan stickers.
I think it's safe to say there was a transitional "made in Japan" version before the Hong Kong assembly ramped up.

I used a K1000 in college (spring '78) but gave it away in the 80's. Now, many years later I went on E-bay to get one.
There are supposed to be 3 versions - made and assembled in Japan, Made in Japan and assembled in Hong Kong, and made in China.
Here is what I have:
1-Engraved on back of top cover: Asahi Optical Co.Japan with serial # on top cover
2- engraved on bottom: Assembled in Hong Kong with serial #on bottom
3 - Sticker on bottom - assembled in Hong Kong w/ serial # on bottom
4 - Made in China plastic.
AND
5 - I have seen them on e-bay with a Japan sticker and serial # on bottom
Most of those with stickers - have lost the stickers and these make up the majority of what is out there - metal w/ serial # on bottom.
Can anyone add to this with additional info??
