Problem with a good new smart phone here in Canada you are looking at $1200.00 and up. I figure a good small camera would be better.

Good day folks, I feel awkward asking this question on this site, I would like to know what you would recommend as the best point and shoot camera new or used to shoot 95% of the time in auto mode. Camping and just being a tourist taking landscapes and some wildlife if close enough. Just a good all around camera. As I am getting much older my memory and learning skills have started to fade. So the need for auto.
Unfortunately everything on the web shows pictures that have been enhanced or shot in manual modes.
What are your thoughts?
Thanks so much!

Well , my wife picked up a new to her pocket camera so I was thinking I might need one also. I am not a great photographer by any means but I have been Browsing the local used market and noticed a guy selling 2 Q7's. One is black with standard kit lens and advertised as never used but opened box. Asking $195 CND or $147.00 US. The other camera is a yellow Q7 used for $225CDN or $169 US. He won't budge on price.
Are these prices reasonable? Any good for all purpose kind of pictures eg: family, camping, some wildlife and tourist kind of stuff? Any chance these cameras could be fakes? One thing I noticed is that it is next to impossible to find lenses for this camera here in Canada. Otherwise I am looking at a Micro 4/3 system. Or like my wife a compact zoom system.
Thanks

Thanks for all the input folks, She picked up a Canon. Definetely not what I expected, but it is what it is. Power Shot Elph 520 HS. Glad I didn't go out and get what I think she wanted.
I learned a lot by researching the ones you all recommended. I might end up with one of those for myself/
Thanks again.

How silly of me! I should know better, I wasn't thinking. Actually, she wants nothing to do with shopping for it she hates electronics and computer Tech and spec stuff. She says just find me something nice and then i'll look at it. What can I say.

Yes, she does use the zoom. She is really just a casual user on vacations, the grand kids, scenery etc... I realize that pretty much any camera would fit the bill, but I am more wondering if there is one make /model that stands out for great auto shooting. She won't let me spend a thousand bucks on it. So if there really is nothing great out there she will probably just stay with another canon that fits her needs.
Thanks

We are in our 60's, and the wife would like a camera to replace an old Canon 1100. She would like a camera that shoots great auto pictures. She has no desire to get off auto. It must be a compact camera with a fixed lens that can be thrown in her purse and used in all kinds of situations. And reasonably priced, new or used is fine. My first digital was an Olympus Camedia that was amazing.
Is there such a camera out there?
Thanks for the help

Would You Buy a Q

I have been reading some old threads on the Q. Very interesting indeed. Here in Canada the price for this camera is $280.00 CND so about $214.00 U.S. I was looking for a compact camera that was easy to use, takes great pictures and pretty good video. I would like to use this camera while out on my quad, fishing, hiking canoe. Basically outdoor stuff and bumping into wildlife .
What do you suggest, Maybe I should look for a different camera.

I have an opportunity to pick up a 2012 Q. Are these cameras worth buying? it comes with 2 lenses not sure yet on the small one but also comes with a number 6. I realize it is not as advanced as todays mirrorless cameras but will it take decent pictures. What would you pay for one?
Thanks for you opinions

I should also mentioned that I would like to be able to create albums . The latest photos update has mixed all my photos up and I hate the faces . I don't even know if it can be disabled . I must confess, my skill set is very low.

Hi There, I have been away for a long time and been completely out of the loupe as far as photography. I have an older Mac computer 2008. I have the latest upgrade for it ( el captain). My camera is a K200d, iPhone 5c and Canon point&shoot. I am looking for a photo program to replace the Photos installed with the computer. Something simple to understand and use. I will not be doing any kind of serious editing so not looking for a pro style program.
I am looking for your recommendations and opinions.
How do you feel about the original photo program that came with the camera (Silkypix photo browser3 and laboratory3)

Thanks so much for your help.
