My DA 20 - 40 Limited is on its way to a new home in Melbourne. I have four zooms left covering 10mm up to 300mm which should be more than enough for my needs. Sometimes less is more.

Hi Simon

I have the 16 - 85 which I find covers my needs. The 20 - 40 is a lovely lens but I'm trimming my lens collection and this FL range is covered by my other lenses.

Regards, Carl

Don't let the fact that this was dropped and repaired scare you off. It was repaired by the authorised Aussie distributor and has worked flawlessly for the past 3 years. Price is around a third of the current new price.......which is reasonable I think.

This matches my feelings about the whole Xmas thing exactly and I couldn't have said it any better. I loathe this time of the year like no other.

Glad that your Mum is OK Dave and that she continues to improve.

I've spent this year selling gear after having a very long, hard think about what I really need (and will use) so there's no new gear in my future plans (Pentax or any other brand). And there's probably still a couple of pieces that I could / should move on to new homes.

That looks like something that Richard de Stoutz might want to add to his collection if he doesn't already have one.

Would you trade your camera for a ball point pen?

Yep, switching from a ballpoint to a fountain pen is like going from instant coffee to brewing your own........once you've done it you never go back

Elliott Erwitt has died at 95 - IMO he was one of the best and was certainly one of my favourites.

I'll assume this is in jest but I doubt that camera gear would be anywhere near lucrative enough for the Yakuza to bother with as a way to make some cash, especially if you compare it to their other heinous enterprises.

Very well said Mike. Given all the bad stuff going on in the world at the moment I'd have thought that there were far bigger things for people to be disappointed about than a lack of new product announcements from Pentax

Why not solar panel and heat collector in one ?

I read an article some time ago that discussed this very question. I can't find it now but I remember that one of the issues was that the most obvious idea of a panel on the roof wouldn't actually produce enough energy to make a substantial difference, although there was research being done and things were progressing. Having said that. I think it would be great to replace the sunroofs they put on cars these days with a solid solar panel - a sunroof on a car in Australia is about the dumbest idea I've come across in a long time.

I can't speak for Tesla's over here but insurance for our Volvo EV's doesn't cost any more than for an ICE car. Maybe it's something to do with Volvo owners' reputation for being slow drivers :lol: means they're less likely to have an accident.

What is your "Pentax Limited Lens" collection?

At various times I've had all the FA Limiteds and the DA Limiteds (a mix of SMC and HD) and enjoyed them all. They're all sold now apart from the DA 20 - 40 which I don't think is going anywhere. I enjoyed using all of them but needed to slim down the collection so they got moved on.

My last two DA Limiteds (the 15mm and 21mm) will be on their way to a new home later today. I love the DA primes but lately I've done a lot of serious thinking about my "realistic' gear needs and the truth is that I have the whole focal length range from 10mm to 300mm covered by zooms which will be more than adequate for my needs. I'm keeping the 20 - 40 Limited as my main lens - it's a cracking piece of gear.

Someone please make a reasonable offer for one or both of these wonderful lenses before I have to resort to listing them on the cesspit that is that well-known auction site.

There hasn't been much posting in this thread lately, maybe people just aren't selling gear. I'll kickstart it by confessing that I've moved a pair of DA Limiteds on to new homes...a 35 Macro and a 70.
