Awesome thanks for the info! The whole process is a lot to take in in a short period of time, so I really appreciate the help. Yeah it was a Canon not a Sony nice catch. I found out there will be a mixer and we're working on access now.

Nice work allknowingeye :) I'm shooting a concert photo/video(fairly small venue) with 2 K-01s, with a friend on a Sony Vixia hf s100. We'll be using a Zoom H4N and a couple mics for sound(one shotgun mic and an instrument mic). Still not sure if there will be a mixer to plug into for the main sound or not, or if we will have access to said mixer if it is there. I've never shot video before only photography so this is all new to me with about two weeks to learn and prepare. Do you have any tips for mixing the two different kinds of cameras or setting you like on the K-01 in low light video situations? I know to double check and make sure they are shooting at the same fps, and video format/quality, but is there anything else I should be wary of? Thanks for any help you can provide.

I bought the K-01 with 40mm lens kit and it just came in a couple days ago. I bought this camera as a financial compromise to fill in the performance gaps of my K200D (which I love), without upgrading to a K5. Those gaps being the inability to shoot at higher ISO and the lack of video capability. The 40mm prime just sweetened the pot. I'll post a more in depth assessment as I get to use it more, but my first impression is that I love it and bang for your buck it probably can't be beat right now. Today I had to take pictures of a training class in a large room that I didn't have the option of adding my own lighting too and a couple things I instantly love about this camera - the live view, the high iso performance (compared to K200D). I've only ever shot through a viewfinder so I wasn't sure how I was going to like not having one, but I noticed one advantage in this situation and that is inconspicousness. I was taking pictures but obviously I didn't want to distract from the trainging. Being able to hold the camera in a more natural standing position while taking picures wasn't nearly as distracting to the people in the class as holding a view finder to my eye evertime I wanted to take a picture. One of my friends from the class said he didn't even realize I was taking pictures until he noticed that I pressed the shutter release. The ability to shoot at a higher ISO was just fantastic.

I fell in a stream today with my K200D with the 18-55WR lens on it. The camera was fully submerged for a few seconds and is still kickin. Probably a little luck involved but still, pretty impressed.

Thanks for the suggestions Bruce, your post processing def looks better. Here is one where I used spot metering, metered off the tractor plow and used the AE-L button to lock in the exposure. Not sure I like the perspective on this one though. Yeah the K200D has an auto bracket shooting mode which can be quite helpful.

Taking pictures again after a couple years of not having a camera. Took this on my way to the airport yesterday. I'm thinking underexposed, but the sky is washed out in the other photos I took. Opinions, suggestions? Also I'm starting photo 101 this semester and want to learn, so don't pull any punches :)

Nice shots Jason. I'm heading out to Oregon(Portland area) on Wednesday to visit my sis in law school. Multnomah Falls and Mt. Hood are already on my list of places to go, but do you have any other suggestions? Going to head out to the shore where one of the scenes from The Goonies was shot too. Did you try any ND filters to see what effect the longer exposure would have there?

This is my first non kit lens, so I'll be playing with it a lot, and I'll post pics as I go. Unfortunately, I've been very busy and the weather has been uncooperative, so I only have one I think is worth posting from the first week.

I just packed all my stuff and it fits in two plastic totes. I think all my stuff(except my snowboard) would fit in my trunk if I didn't have a tool box in it.

I have about a thousand little dents in my car. But it would have been worse if I wasn't parked under a tree. Some people who were driving had their windshields smashed, that's gotta suck. It only lasted for about 5 minutes.
Feel free to use the picture for getting warranty replacements whenever you want:lol:

I dropped my K110D today. When I was pulling it out of my backpack, it slipped out of the camp towel I wrap it in, fell from about waist high, hit the edge of my door frame, and took a couple bounces on the concrete. My heart skipped for a second, and I think I'll actually invest in a camera bag now:)
Other than a scratch on the lens hood and a small scratch on the battery cover, it's totally fine.
Luckily I learned the easy way this time.

If any of you are worried about right and left biased media watch C-SPAN. You can watch the whole thing go down, instead of relying on whatever soundbytes your news channel picks for you. It's not as exciting as soundbytes and commentary, but much more accurate.

I'm moving back to Connecticut. I'm probably going to head to Melbourne Beach, Florida first then to Savannah, Georgia. I'm going to take my time getting back. I'm going to be taking pictures along the way and was wondering if anyone here had any suggestions, for places to stop along the way.

Gooshin the missile silo conversions have been going on for a while now. They usually have a house built over them, and the underground section finished to whatever extent the buyer wants. I want one very badly.

I think the legislation would set a bad precedent. There have also been attacks on malls, parks, private residences, and numerous other places. It implies that, the only criteria needed, to criminalize providing detailed photographs of a location, is that it's a potential target for a terrorist attack. It's strictly meant to attack Google for now, because he's pissed off at them, but it can potentially be skewed in the future. And, used as a foundation for stricter legislation.
I suppose it would be too much, to ask the, English, Irish, and Scottish, to leave their little island, so we can set up Pentaxia(or whatever you wanna call it) there.

I agree that teachers are often not as appreciated as they should be. I had some fantastic teachers. And they weren't always the one's I liked
To give you some background information. I went to a couple different middle schools, and three high schools. They were in higher income towns, and lower income towns. Never inner city though, so I don't have any experience with that. So I'm not basing my opinion on any one school system.
What I found is that the teachers often have their hands tied by administrations, forced to adhere to certain curriculums, and give tests that are easier to quantify. Which generally means lots of pre-approved muliple choice tests. Which were always easy for me. I never considered them an effective teaching tool, I always figured you're starting with a 25, based on chance, and process of elimination with almost no knowledge of the subject matter can usaully get you up to about a 50. It's not true in all cases, but certainly true in som.
A couple of the schools I went to weren't like that. The teachers were free to teach. I believe they had the course outlines approved, but were free to teach that information to the kids in the way they found most effective. In those schools, my grades suffered, but I learned more. I didn't feel I needed to be a straight A student, but I didn't like to fail either. Not graduating high school was never an option, so I was forced to put in more "minimum" effort. I wouldn't have done that if the teachers were afraid of hurting my feelings. Or if they were under pressure to make every kid pass, and pass well. I guess tough, but fair, would be the best way to describe some of those teachers. And in situations where I was willing to put in the extra effort they were there to help me. I value the C's, B's and occasional A's that I got in those classes far more that the A+'s I got in classes I was allowed to skate through. When everyone in a lower level(not advanced, AP, etc), is getting A's then I think there's a problem. Good grades, dont eqwal good lerning:)

Haha, I can't wait till that happens. The biggest problem I've had so far was having to rearange the contact solution, lens case, soap bottle, and candles on my bathroom sink because I felt like the composition was all wrong.
