Thank you.... I was afraid that this was the only thing... I just had the desperate hope that someone had the same problem and that it was a software problem or something but I guess it is rather a hardware problem... *sigh*

Hi,
I'm not really active in this forum but I really love Pentax cameras.
Today I bought an Optio RS 1000 in impulse.... maybe not a good idea without some research before, but it was rather inexpensive, I do some travel on monday and my only digital and small camera is the original optio s, which sometimes has problems with focusing... and I just wanted something small to take along... (and it was the only pentax model in the store)
but now I tried the new camera and the flash is not working... I'm inside the flash should be come up in automatic mode, but even if I set the flash manually there is no flash... I played with the settings but there never is a flash... and the pictures are definitly too dark...
is there anything I can try beside returning it to the store after my trip and take my beloved old optio s on my trip?

I don't have any new stuff at the moment because I moved and still have to find a way to make my bathroom into a darkroom.... -_-

Hi,
I just want to say hello and introduce myself here... I'm from Germany and I got my first SLR 2000... it was a Pentax ME and it is still my favorite camera ... I also own a MX and just got a bit more modern and got myself a MZ 5n off ebay last week... it came with a AF280T flash and a smc pentax-f 1:4-5,6 35-80mm...
the only digital camera I own is a Optio S... I'm kind of old-fashioned, I like black and white pictures and solid metal cameras and lenses ;)
