Nesster, thanks for your opinions.
i'm finding this info because i'm curious.
your chronology can be exact:
1 - at first "Super Takumar" maybe had only single-coating
2 - then, step by step, Super Takumar had multi-coating (at first 3 layers and then 7 layers) on some elements
3 - finally "Super Takumar" had multi-coating (7 layers) on all elements, similar to "SMC Takumar"
but it is difficoult to know each transitions from a step to next step.

if there is people with more info, please tell me :-)

about good\bad copy:
take a photo to a brickwall (at f2.8 and f5.6) and see if there is the same sharpess in right side and in left side.
if a side is sharper than another side, your lens is not good.

nice lens!
another 1:1 macro in the M42 mount is Kilfitt Macro Kilar 40mm f2.8
there are 2 versions: 1:1 macro and 1:2 macro.
1:1 macro version is very rare.

sigma 50-500mm is better at 500mm, you know.
but then sigma 170-500mm is always very nice between 170mm - 400mm.
only between 400mm - 500mm is not the best, but it is not a real problem: it is satisfactory also at 500mm.
about me it is a very good choise:
- autofocus !
- APO lens !
- smaller the sigma 50-500mm !!
- lighter then sigma 50-500mm !!
- cheaper then sigma 50-500mm !!!!
last question: where you can find a focal range 300mm/500mm with Autofocus (...for pentax...) for 500 USD?
about me it has a very good compromise price\quality.

---
Sigma 70-200mm f2.8 APO EX DG Macro HSM (not avaible for pentax)
Sigma 70-200mm f2.8 APO EX DG Macro HSM II
-----------
it is right?
