I have the white K-m and I would definitely buy another white Pentax dslr. The white camera does draw a lot of attention. Also, a white camera stays cooler in the sun.

I own the Sigma 24-70mm f2.8 DG Macro EX. I love this lens. It's the lens I use most often and it's usually attached to my camera. I have 2 kit lenses that came with the white K-m, a Sigma 70-300 and a smc Pentax M f1.4

Which Sigma 70-200mm do you own? DG or non-DG or HSM. I was reading about these lenses in the database and can't figure out which ones the owners are referring to or which one is the best.

I guess what I'm looking for is better resolution/sharpness and bokeh. Thanks.

Street shooting is the exact reason why I want a 135mm. One of my flickr contacts uses a Canon 135mm f2.0 L for candid street shots and they are stunning. Don't know if a Pentax equivalent exists, but the SMC-K 135mm comes close. However, I do want AF and thus I must choose between the FA or the DA*.
Again, thanks for all the folks who have chimed in. Love this forum.

I have the Pentax M 50mm 1.4 and it certainly doesn't feel cheap. The focus ring is smooth and well-dampened. The aperture clicks are tight and defined. Nothing loose here.

Congrats on your first dslr. You made a good choice. My first dslr is the white K-m. It'll be a year in February since I've owned it. Welcome to the forums.

I always use the "green button" (+/- button on K-m) when using my manual focus 50mm prime.

So which is better at 135mm? FA or DA?

I've read that the FA135 has a loose focus ring and some PF. I guess I'll be saving up for the DA. Thanks for your input.

Thanks for the advice Denis. Though the smc K 135mm is a bit faster @ f2.5, I think I would rather have the AF. I hate to miss shots because I'm not quick enough at manual focus. Does the DA produce the same bokeh at 135mm as the FA?

Hello everyone,
I'm looking into purchasing a 135mm prime. I had wanted the smc Pentax-M 135mm f2.5, but they run kinda high. I love the images this lens can produce, but I figure that if I pay that much for a lens, I might as well get one with AF (Pentax SMCP-FA 135mm f/2.8 IF Lens). However, since the SMCP-FA 135mm is rather rare and can only be had used, I also contemplated buying the DA Star 50-135.
Which lens is the sharpest wide open and which one produces the best bokeh? Which lens would you buy and why? Thanks for your input.

I bought a Pentax because of price, ability to use old lenses, design and AA batteries. Most of all, I like to be different. Besides, I think Pentax is a catchier name than Canon, Nikon, etc.

There is no denying that the K-x is one helluva camera. If I hadn't bought my white K-m back in March, I would have gotten the K-x. But I see no reason in letting go of my K-m for the K-x for the time being. If and when Pentax puts the K-x sensor in the K-7 body, that's when I'll move up. Please let this happen in 2010!!!!

I bought my first dslr in February of this year and I use PS Elements 7 for minor post-processing. I wish I knew how to use it to its full potential to really make my photos stand out. It should satisfy your needs.

I use 2000 MAh Eneloops and I'm averaging 751 shots per charge so far. I alternate between 2 sets.

I saw that thread, but I didn't misinterpret it. :D I guess because I was viewing a camera forum and I own a white K-m. However, I don't mean any disrespect to those that may have misread your post.

Before my K-m, I had a Canon S5IS for approx 6 months. It was a jack-of-all-trades. But I wanted something with a better sensor and interchangeable lenses. I can live without a top LCD as I've never had a camera with one. So I guess I don't know what I'm missing. The argument for a top LCD would be that it drains less juice than the main LCD screen on the back. If the K-x had an articulating LCD, that would have pushed me over the edge. I'll wait and see what else comes out from Pentax before buying another camera.
