I'm not really sure what that was. There were several people dressed up like animals around the race that morning, and I saw this guy getting his picture taken, and I thought it was sort of funny. :-)

Yesterday morning, my sister ran a half marathon here in Columbus, OH beginning at 7 am downtown. I had 1 hour and 37 minutes to kill while she was running, so I went downtown to take some pictures, including her with her winner plaque after the race! Enjoy!

Hello Everyone!
I am currently in Texas visiting my parents for a week, and my dad and I went to go take pictures yesterday at out local aquarium/hatchery where there are sometimes animals outside. I had a particularly lucky day, and managed to capture a heron, dragonfly, and also a couple of turtles lounging on rocks.

On this Memorial Day, I've spend about 5 hours in front of a microscope taking pictures of cells. However, when I got home this evening my wonderful roommate was grilling. I think that grilled asparagus is gorgeous, and much more fun to take pictures of than reactive astrocytes. :D

Very cool pictures. When I was in the SF area a couple weeks ago (note the Yosemite thread), I noticed windmills like the ones in the last 2 pics.

I love google streetview. That's really neat that you know where all of those are. I unfortunately cannot tell you where exactly the small stream was, other than it was in the vicinity of Bridalveil Falls. :D

The quality of light is pretty good in early evening. I'm attaching an additional picture that I took just before sunset of Half Dome. You can definitely be there at that time, especially if you are camping, which was what we were doing. But, you have to reserve the campsites about 6 months in advance, so you have to plan ahead. :-)

Great pictures! I have also been to Hocking Hills, but haven't ever caught the falls when there is actually water. :-)

Thanks for the comments! Speaking of Ansel Adams, if you look at a park map of Yosemite, there is actually a region entitled "Ansel Adams Wilderness", which made me smile.

I recently returned from an amazing weekend camping in Yosemite National Park for a lab retreat. There are so many beautiful things to see there that it's difficult to take a unique picture. I think I took about 350, and 7 of them are good. :o Here are some of my favorites!
Also, I have to note that the "empty road" shot used to have several cars, but I like the photo much better with the cars removed with the help of photoshop (I didn't want to make my boyfriend wait on the side of the road until the traffic flow ended).

Thanks for the comments everyone! With my dad's advice, I put my first try of a watermark on the Gatorade photo. :-)

It's not quite that bad in Ohio, but I understand. I like the picture of the robin (I'm partial to them). :-)

Hi Everyone,
It's been a while since I've been on here, but I recently went to Boston to see my amazing sister run the marathon. I also discovered the tool on Photoshop that allows one to selectively remove color from images, as you'll see I've applied to a picture I took at the 25 mile water stop. I also did it to a self-portrait taken at an Ohio State football game back in the fall. The other images are of Boston Commons, including my personal favorite, pre-race Porta-Potties. :-)

I recently returned from a meeting in Charleston, SC, and we skipped some afternoon sessions to sightsee. I also walked to the river and got some lovely shots at sunset. Enjoy!!

I'm not either, and these should last a lot longer. I think the website claimed that there were 100 flowers, but I don't buy it. Still pretty, though! :-)

Nice squirrels, Dad. It looks like we're both anxious for some more exciting things to take pictures of. Next week I'll be at Point Reyes in Northern CA - there is a beautiful lighthouse there and we're planning on hiking to it at sunset. It should be more fun to take than Reese's Pieces (and squirrels).

For Valentine's Day, my boyfriend many miles away in California sent me these lovely flowers. Although the lighting wasn't great late this morning, I wanted to take some shots of them. I also took this shot of Reese's Pieces sitting on our coffee table. :-)

San Antonio is also fantastic. Great food, music, and climate. I used to go there in college all the time. If I ever lived in Texas again, it will be Austin.
I also understand about the cold, here in Ohio, and I was born in Michigan. I'm ready for spring!
