How long does the focus stay locked if I use back button focus in live view or view finder after I release the back button?
It seems to me that the focus should stay locked if I am in AF-S!

K5 Review Delay

After I take a picture it takes several seconds (3-4) before the image appears on the rear screen after pressing the review button. Is this normal or is there a setting in menus that I am missing?

On my KP, reviewing an image after pressing the review button is almost instantaneous.

Also, can SDXC cards be used on the K5?

What does the CLARITY setting in shooting menus do? Is it some sort of sharpening feature? Does it only affect JPGs? The manual does not explain it.

DOT TUNE AF Adjustment

"DOT TUNE" by TESTCAMS on YouTube is a fast, success-oriented solution to AF fine adjustment. All you need is a target and a tripod. Nothing to purchase. No pictures to take and examine. In fact you do not have to take any pictures. I used his procedure strictly by the video and achieved very pleasing AF accuracy results in minutes. Did my KP and two Pentax primes and the 20-40 mm Limited zoom. I could not be happier with the results.

I have tried numerous USB cables, but I cannot connect my KP to my laptop running Windows 10.

Problem solved! I found a cable that works; an AmazonBasics!!!

Thanks to all for your help and suggestions.

Tamron SP90

Recently rediscovered the Tamron SP90 1:2.5 (BB52) in Adaptall mount for Pentax. Left from film days. I have been using it on the K70 in the manual focus mode (obviously). This Tamron is sharp wide open and gets to be amazing as it is closed down.
For personal carry around, non-commercial shooting, I set K70 at MF, TAv, 1/250s, F5.6, ISO Auto (100-25600). Focus through viewfinder and shoot!

Separate AF Lock for Back-button AF and AE Lock

Thanks, Steve. Yes, you got the question right. On K5 for example, and KP, I can have two independent buttons assigned for AF Lock and AE Lock. I didn't realize that option was dropped from the K70. Otherwise the K70 is good camera for my purposes! I wonder if it could be put back in a firmware upgrade?

Separate AF Lock for Back-button AF and AE Lock

I have a new K70 and I primarily use M Mode, secondarily TAv, and back-button AF.
Here's my question: If I assign AF Lock to the AF/AE Lock button, is there an option to assign an independent button for AE Lock. I wish to lock AF and AE separately with independent buttons. Back-button AF is a must!

K5 plus Sigma 50mm

I bought a new K5 two weeks ago to upgrade from the K200d. The K5 is an amazing camera! I have matched it (exclusively) with the Sigma 50mm 1:1.4 EX DG HSM lens. This combo best suits my shooting style and interests; mainly indoor candid stuff. I cannot speak highly enough for this Sigma lens; it is absolutely incredible. For running around indoors in available light, I shoot (RAW) at ISO 3200 in aperture priority (stopped down 1-3 stops) and make a point of filling the frame with the subject matter of interest as much as possible! Filling the frame is the most important element of high-ISO shooting.
This combo is my dream!!!

DEBUG Testing

Thank you, RKKS08! Perhaps I have planned to bite off more than I can chew....! You have given me information on more aspects of AF focusing problems than I would have imagined. Are you suggesting that a Pentax DSLR should be used with a Pentax AF lens only and this combo will be AF trouble free? Again thank you for your prompt response.
Respectfully,

DEBUG Testing

Since I have purchased a K5, I am going to use my K200d as a test bed for MODSET.445 and PK_Tether for DEBUG experimentation, but first a few words about the K200d!
All my lenses for this model have been Sigma or Tamron brands except for one Pentax 50mm 1.7 A model. Two Sigmas are AF; all others, including one Sigma, are MF. Every lens of either the AF or MF type required tweeking via MODSET to get anywhere near optimum focus, especially in low light. This seems to be a known bug-a-boo with the K200d. Now with my K5 and the new Sigma 50mm f1.4 EX DG teamed as my every day tool, I don't mind the risk of using the K200d as a test bed to explore the full range of DEBUG options.
In open daylight, the K200d is, and has been, a very satisfactory performer within its specification constraints. If anyone has any comments or suggestions to add for my consideration, I welcome your 2 cents!
