Thanks yucafrita. IR, once you figure out what does and does not work, can be a lot of fun.

Here's another from Oly 12, this time using the visible portion of the spectrum:

Sorry to hear that. When I began seriously thinking about getting the 12mm a few months ago, I checked the Outlet store almost every day until it showed up a little over a week ago. So I'm sure it will show up again at some point.

Another reason I wanted to get the Oly 12 is I was looking for better performance away from the center with my IR converted EPL-1. I've had trouble finding wide angle lenses on m43 that are sharp away from the center and toward the edges of the image. While the Oly 12 does a better resolving visible light toward the edges than infrared light, it's still by far the best wide angle I've used for infrared.

A false color infrared image with the Oly 12:

The Oly 12 is my first taste of high-end Olympus glass, and I'm quite impressed. The lens is very sharp edge to edge, and is very contrasty, with rich, vibrant, beautifully saturated color. After using the lens and examining the images it produces, I'm beginning to understand why Mike Johnston ranked Olympus as the second best (behind Ziess and ahead of Leica and Pentax) lens manufacturer. I also appreciate its small size (it's smaller than it looks in online photos). I've been using some of the old HG lenses with my EM-5, and those lenses are big and heavy and sort of go against the whole compact vibe of m43. It's been liberating once again to use a small lens, especially one that doesn't involve any compromises in terms of image quality.

Incidentally, Oly is still offering a black Oly 12 for $480 at their U.S. based outlet store (for "reconditioned" products). They're offering an additional 20% off today and tomorrow, so I expect whatever remaining stock will go pretty quickly.

One more from Oly 12:

Thanks!:) I'm not going to knock the K5IIs a wonderful camera and the best Pentax I ever owned .....until the K1.

As you have probably read me post, the Bigma is now a fast focusing dream on the K1...was never fast or all that accurate before. It is now! :)

I just shot this and it is almost dark out there, I could barely see her in the viewfinder. The K1 +Bigma locked on instantly and I got the shot. Even more...with the new SR I got it handheld at 1/80! :D

Mama Raccoon robbing the squirrel feeder.....she comes and cleans out the leftovers every night.

Here's another "not a squirrel" just after sundown.

How I am loving this camera! More keepers, more opportunities in poor light, more everything! :D:D

Regards!:)
