PentaxForums.com Marketplace Listing Item for Sale
Voigtländer 125mm f2.5 Macro Asking Price
1,700.00 USD Item Location
Stockholm (Sweden) Item Description
Selling my Voigtländer 125mm f2.5 macro in KA mount that I bought new when I was shooting Pentax. I have since switched systems but although I sold all my Pentax glass I have kept this gem around since I love it so much, buying adapters to use it on other systems. But now I have some specific needs for new glass and its time for this to go to generate funds.
I havent used it as much after I sold my Pentax so for the last 3 years its mostly been in a drawer, coming out now and then. Ive always kept front and rear caps on it when its not on the camera.
I notice one fault with it which is a shallow scratch on the outer metal barrel which is purely cosmetic and is visible in some of the photos included.
I am currently located in Sweden so this is great for EU buyers since it would ship from within the EU.
Includes the metal lens hood, the metal front cap, a soft plastic cap that fits outside the lens hood and plastic rear cap.
Note that in the photos it has an adapter on it, which is not included.

I am hoping the camera will have new tech in it developed by pentax and not just the stuff that came with the sony sensor ie iso capabilities etc

flash sync is limited by the speed of the shutter, or by the presence of an -electronic shutter.
the shutter has leading and trailing curtains, the sync speed is the fastest shutter speed that the shutter can do without having to start the trailing curtain before the leading curtain has reached the end of the sensor, ie if that happens then the whole sensor will not be exposed at once and if the flash fires when the whole sensor is not exposed then there will be a dark stripe where the curtain was. This is common knowledge about sync speed and there are many descriptions on this. it wouldnt make sense to not trigger the x sync port and the center hotshoe pin at a faster speed if it was available.

The colors are a great idea when they have the color choices on the kr
plastic barrel is ok, but I personally dont like plastic mount, feels very bad and not solid,
2.4 is way too slow, unless it was really small like the limiteds, which still are too slow.
if this was meant to be an affordable prime alternative to the old 50 f1.4 then well 2.4 doesnt replace a 1.4.
They have the designs for the fa 35 which is a fantastic lens and is f2 but very sharp at f2 why not make that more plasticy and sell it cheap, it wasnt that expensive when it was available.

hard to say at this point, although the 16mp sensor is pretty much given and it should have more fps than the kr and k7 so 8 sounds reasonable.
1080p hd is to be expected to compete, hopefully with an option for a more compressed codec than mjpeg and 24fps rate. And will it have af or not, I guess not.
actually from these specs, true or not, this one seems like a cool idea
Hybrid VF utilizing translucent LCD to display focus points and framing grid.
actually putting a translucent lcd in the vf to display info on top of the optical view, although I would expect it would make the frame darker, if it somehow could be turned off and then didnt really affect the brightness of the vf then. it would be cool if they had some neat trick like that to set it apart from other cameras using the same sony sensor.
hopefully they will be focusing on the af system, actually the k7 system is quite good but only the single shot af, the continuous one is not good.
flash sync being 1/250 with certain flashes doesnt sound right. its a property of the camera shutter and not affected by which flash you put on it.
dual sd would be cool or at least a functioning slot in the grip, plenty of space in there for it, or maybe let the grip take 2 batteries, so u can get 3 in total.

I was using a nikon flash so it was not an option. It is a very poor substitute for real flash sync.

thanks! well you can call it a future self portrait preview since its my dad.
I somehow managed to barely balance it but it was just barely, the flash was on full power and it was really close, just barely not visible in the shot. Oh how great it would be to get an electronic shutter that could sync at 1/1000. My old sony p&s can do it, annoying that expensive DSLRs cant. Moreover Pentax is behind the curve with their 1/180 compared to the more common 1/200 and 1/250 of other brands.
Well I wish I had a pcb einstein with a vagabond II and a large modifier in that situation, then I could live with the sync speed :p . AndI would have a lot more flexibility than just struggling to see how close to the lightsource you can get the subject.

nice weather today so took a short hike up the local mountain, didnt have too much time to shoot though but took a few. hm might have gotten a bit oversharpened because of the flickr export output sharpening. |

voigtlander lenses are my favorite, but I wouldnt spend money converting them to sony mount to use with the noisy super high mp count a850, Id get them straight in nikon mount to use on a low noise d700 instead.

Am loving the panorama stitching feature and in combination with content aware fill in ps cs5. Never took panos before I got it so now I have something new to experiment with, its really easy to take them when the sw works so well. And being able to remove objects is great, as in the first shot of the ferry there were two thick steel cables going from the top of the boat and down to the gate in the front which were really annoying. Also surprised that it still worked so well considering the ferry was moving.

have you calibrated your monitor? the picture looks great on mine, certainly wouldnt make it any darker then it would be too dark, maybe your monitor is too bright. when I calibrated mine, one of them was set to 100% brightness and the calibrator software asked me to turn it down to 40% so quite a change. Apparently thats also why people often complain prints are too dark, cause their monitors are too bright.

The new sensor has 16mpix, even if the manufacturers improve noise somewhat in each generation they normally eat it up by increasing the amount of mpix. For those who want fantastic iso noise, the best camera is the D3s and that has only 12mpix on a ff sensor, if they used all the latest innovations and made a new 10mpix sensor then presumably it would have quite good noise performance and could also deliver more fps. Already saw in the negatives on the dpr review of the new sony that there was NR killing details over iso 400. I ge the impression a lot of the new cameras has just worse noise performance but better NR software in camera, but if that is the case I can run strong NR on my k7 shots today to get good iso performance.

The zess'es are really expensive, Im hoping cosina plans to introduce some more Voigtlanders as those are my fave series of lenses, havent heard anything new from them recently. Just too bad those lenses are quite slow in general for prime lenses.

The best is to have both, as unfortunately thats what adobe wants you to so they keep some features out of lightroom so that it wont replace the need for photoshop.
feature wise, all the sliders and basic develip functionality from lightroom is also in camera raw that ships with photoshop and of course photoshop is a lot more powerfull so you will be able to do everything u can do in lightroom and more.
the web, print and slideshow modules of lightroom i personally dont use. but I do like lightroom for organizing and it does a better job than photoshop at being faster to process a lot of photos.
I guess it depends on your needs, some people dont pp so much that they need any more than what lightroom offers.
Id still strongly consider saving and grabbing cs5 later before your eligibility for discount runs out though, I paid full price for mine and it burns... :p

You need a video editing tool, I would think most tools have exposure correction since thats pretty basic, how you do it specifically will depend on the actual program you use. Paid ones such as premiere elements or vegas studio or free ones like virtualdub should be able to do that.
as for grain that would be noise reduction, and seems often done via plugins, I use neatvideo which is commercial and available for a ton of different editors including the previously mentioned 3. And there are some free ones available for virtualdub I believe, dont know how good they are. neatvideo did extremely well with my video but then it cost more than the editor I use it in, but my k7 indoor videos were mostly so grainy i wouldnt want to use them unless I had something like that.

Many great shots in the thread, love how you can draw the subject out of the background, even at f4 and higher, just becomes more 3dish in general. Also the 12mp nikon sensor is just fantastic in general. I hope they keep refining it like they did when they went to the d3s instead of going crazy on the mp like canon. I guess canon will go 30mp in their next iteration :p

I see Vegas is very popular in here :)
So I got the neatvideo plugin today and wow it is very impressive indeed, does an extremely good job of cleaning up the super noisy k7 video, making it look great instead of crap in many cases. I would say this is more or less required software if u want to make indoor movies with the k7, this or a competing product.

Just bought vegas studio platinum 10 yesterday. Have been fiddling around with it a bit and it seems very intuitive and working good for my purposes.
However the output part doesnt seem optimal. My input is always the same, since its from the same camera, and I would always want to output in the same hd resolution but with a better codec than mjpeg and preferably in a widely supported container such as avi. Id prefer h264 output in avi or mp4. but vegas doesnt appear to do h264, you can get mpeg4 video but then in the .mov format.
I guess this is why Ive read several instances of people just exporting uncompressed and then encoding with some freeware h264 encoder like handbrake. That is far from optimal though.
So i was wondering what settings people here use when exporting the video from vegas.
Also, it seems I should buy neatvideo, even though it costs more than vegas hah. Since the k7 videos are unbearably noisy, anyone use that?
