I've been on a few tours and hiked the Na Pali trail. You will get hot and perspire. If you have to carry water and keep up with others I would recommend the 17-50mm, 55-300mm and maybe your DA15mm. Between the walking stopping and taking pics it's not fun carrying a heavy bag. I carried a DA16-50 and 50-135 on my last trip to Kau'ai. The 16-50 stayed on my camera as it covered almost all of my shooting needs and I just didn't have time to swap out lens.
If your tour doesn't include it I would recommend the Na Pali hike and also a catamaran boat ride off the Na Pali coastline which includes a lunch stop at Lehua island. It departs and returns from Port Allen.

Sigma made a manual focus 200mm f/3.5 in a K mount , no A function. It's multi coated and has a built-in hood. I have one but haven't really used it so I can't tell you about its' IQ. It is fairly compact.

Steve,
January can be a wet month so you might want to keep your options open daily.
We have some good military courses and I've played them all, the courses on the Marine Corps base and Hickam AFB have a few picturesque holes so bringing a camera on those courses might get you some nice pics.
The Arizona Memorial and National Cemetary at Punchbowl are two of our most popular attractions as well as a host of lookouts and points of interest. A couple of good hikes are the Diamond Head and Makapuu Lighthouse trails.
If you are you coming with family or friends as that will impact how much you can do daily. We do have some heavy traffic at times. If you put together an itinerary run it by me and I'll tell you if it's practical.
I compiled a short list of places for picture taking and if you want I can send it to you. If you have any questions you can Google them or ask here.

Steve,
I wouldn't mind meeting up if your itinerary includes the island of Oahu. Post any questions here and I'll try to answer what I know and if not someone else should be able to help.

I've suspected for some time now that my wife has been cheating on me. The usual signs... Phone rings but if I answer, the caller hangs up. My wife has been going out with the girls a lot recently although when I ask their names she always says, "Just some friends from work, you don't know them."
I always stay awake to look out for her taxi coming home, but she always walks down the drive, although I can hear a car setting off, as if she has gotten out of the car round the corner. Why ? Maybe she wasn't in a taxi? I once picked her cell phone up just to see what time it was and she went berserk and screamed that I should never touch her phone again and why was I checking up on her.
Anyway, I have never broached the subject with my wife. I think deep down I just didn't want to know the truth, but last night she went out again and I decided to really check on her. I decided I was going to park my 750 honda classic next to the garage and then hide behind it so I could get a good view of the whole street when she comes home.
It was at that moment, crouching behind my Honda I noticed that the valve covers seem to be leaking a little oil. Is this something I can fix myself or should I take it back to the dealer?

If you buy a lens from prodigital2000, they will send a PDF copy of the receipt if requested via email. Print out the PDF and send it in with the lens for warranty service. I had to do this for one of my lens.

Nothing wrong with hobbies as long as you can afford them.
I'm not sure if anybody brought this up but fixing your K20D cost you a good reason to upgrade to the K-7

Wow nice capture. I saw this thread earlier but didn't pay attention to the actual island itself. Where did you take the photo from?
Glad your camera turned out OK.

Will,
If you're a Costco member they have a Sanyo Eneloop package with 8 AA, 2 AAA, and a charger for ~ $20 $29 minus $10 off instant savings. I saw this on Sunday here.

I had the SDM fail on my DA 300m lens while using it. I had to revert to manual focus using the focus trap method. Yeah I got the shots I wanted, but I paid for auto focus.
I sent the lens to Pentax and a replacement was sent with the exact same problem. I just verified the second lens was bad with another K20D. It'll going back to Pentax real soon
So having the ability to switch to screwdrive is something I want.

I just tried it but no joy. It's still exhibiting the same symptoms. It will attempt to focus by moving but will never acheive focul lock. Even if I manually focus on a spot and then try to AF it will move out of focus. The other DA 300 axted the same.
My DA 16-50 and 50-135 work just fine. If I'm not able to test the lens on another body I'll send it back next week. Thank you for the advice.

My DA*300mm lens will not focus using SDM on my K20D. This is my second copy as I sent the first to Pentax for the same problem and they replaced it with what looks to be a returned lens. Before I send this one back I would like to test it on another body capable of using the SDM motor.
If anybody on the Island of Oahu is willing to help it would be appreciated. I could bring a few of the lens listed in my profile to play with while I test the lens.
PM if available.

I did some quick research and found that the lightroom image is called a Weedy Sea Dragon, and the others I thought were mature ones are called Leafy Sea Dragons and are larger.

I think it's called a Sea Dragon. I was just at the Birch Aquarium in La Jolla, Ca and took some pics of them. The mature ones look like swimming kelp. I'll post a few pics later when I get home.

I recently bought a 13.3" Macbook 2.0 aluminum unibody to replace an old HP 15.4 laptop. I still use windows desktop as my main computer and have Lightroom installed. I removed lightroom from the HP and was able to install it on the Macbook, different version of course.

I bought a pair of Element K2 LED flahlights from Sam's Club last year and noticed the battery holder was cracking on both lights.
I found a website that had some info about free replacement holders. I called them and received two of them three days later. 150 lumen light at sams for 15 bucks! - CandlePowerForums |

On another forum I frequent they have an "Off Topic" area that is only available to members who can view and post and political topics are allowed. However political posts require a speciial icon and a member has to enable these type of posts. Typical rules still apply: no profanity, nude pics, personal attacks. The moderators are strict about political posts being visible.
No sub-forum is required. You won't see them unless they are enabled.
The site is about woodworking and while I'm not a woodworker, I do like to frequent the off topic area. WoodNet Forums: Viewing list of forums |

The 1.4X-S will only transmit aperture info. No SDM contacts to allow use of the motor in the DA* lenses.
Image quality is very good with my A* 300mm, but haven't used enough with my DA* 300mm to give an opinion.
