60-250 and 18-250 are sold. I am surprised that the 16-50 wasn't the first to go, that was my favorite lens for years![COLOR="Silver"] ---------- Post added 09-29-2015 at 09:42 AM ---------- 16-50 sold pending payment

I'm selling off all my Pentax lenses. I've since switched platforms, though I enjoyed my time with Pentax. Items for Sale Pentax DA* 60-250mm f/4 $825$775 SOLD Pentax DA* 16-50mm f/2.8 $475$425 SOLD Sigma 10-20mm f/3.5 EX DC $400$375 SOLD Pentax DA 18-250mm f/3.5-6.3 $200 SOLD
I also have a K-7 body in Good condition with a RRS L bracket, two OEM batteries, charger, strap. The shutter wheel needs to be moved very rapidly in order to decrease values (but increases fine). I normally used aperture priority anyway, and dealt with the inconvenience when doing long exposures. $175 $135 Item Condition
The lenses are all in Excellent condition, though the lens hoods all have scratches. SDM works fine on the Sigma and the two DA* lenses. The 16-50, which was one of my favorite lenses for a long time, has a few specs of internal dust, though they never showed up in pictures. The 18-250 also has internal dust. I focused on the front glass element for all the lenses, so this is visible for those two in my pictures. The Sigma had the HSM motor repaired under warranty once. Are you the original owner of the item being sold?
Yes for the lenses. K-7 was purchased with something like 1000 shutter actuations. Are you selling or trading this item?

Cool thanks for the replies.
@Penmacgal: Good to see your results, I would also be using it on a K-7, only in good lighting and on a monopod or tripod. I'll have to have it shipped out to me and keep my eye out for a 1.7x. Nice choice in bird feeders btw

I assume there is no issue using the 1.7x with the 60-300mm, but has anyone tried this? I have the 60-300 at home in a different state so I cant look at it, but am I correct in assuming that the 1.7x would NOT add autofocus capability to it?
Any thoughts are welcome.

Thanks for all the replies. I had scoped out that Manfrotto tripod and ball head you guys recommended so I'll probably go with those. I'll be using the 1.7x tc on the 300mm so if I ever go to a bigger lens it wont be for a long time but I do appreciate that input littledrawe. Starting with a mobile set up as most of the work I do is not close to where I park the car. Thanks all!

I'm looking for a tripod as well as a monopod for walking around that will comfortably support my K7 and a DA* 300mm. I'm also planning on getting a ball head or joystick head.
One thing I'm confused about is the "supported weight" on these, as often times people will rate a tripod down because it couldnt support their long lens, but if you add up the weight of their camera + lens they aren't even close to the max supported weight. Price isn't a big deal though I'd rather not spend more than $500 on the tripod and the ball head but if need be I can go over that, and I'm assuming a monopod that would fit the bill wouldn't get to expensive, I really just want something that I'm not going to have to hassle with. Carbon fiber would be nice so that I could take the equipment backpacking without adding a crazy amount of weight. It would also be cool if both the monopod and tripod used the same quick-release so I could swap it back and forth without any hassle but thats not realistic.
Thanks!

In my OP I stated that I purchased this lens in the spring. That information is incorrect and I actually purchased it December 13 2009, though it got very little use in the winter and even the spring (snow melts in the sierras where I do most of my photography in July). It is not my intention to deceive anyone so I am glad I caught this before it was sold. This also means warranty is up Dec 13 of this year.
I'll send a PM about possible shipping to Thailand

PentaxForums.com Marketplace Listing Item for Sale
DA 1:4 17-70mm AL [IF] SDM Asking Price $365 USD (was $390) Item Location
California Item Description
Item is in like new condition. No scratches on the casing or glass at either end. SDM works great, fast focus. I'm also including a 67mm Hoya multicoated cir-polarizing filter ($80 retail) also with no flaws. I use the filter with pretty much all of my outdoor photos. I also have all original packaging and documentation for the lens.
On the lens hood, the removable part so that you can adjust a filter without removing the hood is missing. This has not effected the function of the lens hood in my experience
This has been my favorite lens since I bought it last December, as I do mostly outdoor landscape photography and it produces fantastic images. I am selling it as my K2000 is failing and I'm going to be upgrading to a K-7 and need some extra funding to do so. I would be willing to trade this lens + cash for a K-7 in like new condition.
Here is a gallery of shots I took with it last week, Yosemite - a set on Flickr
and I have to throw these in http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4085/4972212251_4e61d81431_b.jpg http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4075/4784900294_cf72e17c8b_b.jpg

Thanks for the reply. I don't know a lot about how the internals work, just the basics, but hearing you say that the senor re-positions after a photo makes me feel like that is the process happening when the issue occurs.
I do understand that I have to wait for the hand to show up with SR, I have over far over 15000 photo's with it and I've never had any issues with it like this before so it is a new development - and just to confirm the hand is showing up. It may be hard to hear on that recording but the sound is faint for one second and then makes the loud "shake" noise (but not as loud as the shutter) the second second.
Also to put thins into perspective, the flash stopped releasing first, then 30 hours later the battery issue started, and then a few days later the sensor shaking (assuming thats what it is) issue started.
EDIT: I have a new theory. I purchased 4 packs of lithium energizer batteries, but these problems have only occurred on these sets... I've never heard of a batch of bad batteries being sipped but maybe they are garbage. I'll have to try some standards soon as i can get my hands on some tomorrow.
UPDATE: tried fresh, sealed alkaline batteries with the same result - camera shows the battery at half strength and then shuts off saying battery deplete after a number of photo's.
Issue #1 in the OP disappeared while testing the batteries - which is bizarre but happened before.
Flash still wont pop up.
Theoretically i should be able to just shut my camera off every 20 photos or so and turn it back on and it will be fine. just annoying. Camera is out of warranty as well so thats annoying.

I have 3 problems with my camera.
First off, when I take a picture, once the shutter closes the camera has started making a noise like.... well here listen for yourself to the sound in between each shutter release (this file should open with any media player) http://dl.dropbox.com/u/13888870/recording14267.3gpp
This problem comes and goes, it almost sounds like the sensor shaking? It produces blurry pictures when this problem occurs. Tested with shake reduction on and off, tried using the dust removal feature, and i am not taking long exposures, happens at every shutter speed. I noticed it 2 weeks ago, but then it just went away. Worked great last week in yosemite valley (THANK GOD), and it worked fine 2 days ago, but now it has been doing this all day.
Also the flash will not open. I've seen this issue elsewhere and looks to be an electrical fault but if i attach a external flash to the camera, i should then be able to open the built in flash.
Finally, I've put 2 new sets of energizer "advanced lithium" batteries in it and after 10-20 shots the lcd shows the batteries at half strength, and then 10-20 shots later battery depleted. Switch off and on, and then its fine and will do the same thing all over again. I need to test this with a different brand of batteries but would be interested to hear if anyone has had this issue.
This camera has been great (except the lcd is garbage outdoors) the last year and a half but all of these problems have shown up within 2 weeks. Hasn't got wet or banged around.

Lens is sold pending payment to frank
I'm selling because 90% of my photography is done while hiking/backpacking and bringing multiple lenses as well as switching lenses is a major hassle. I'd love to keep it even though I rarely use it now but I need the money more than the lens right now :). Meant to include this in the original post...

My first batch with the SP 60-300mm. Fantastic lens! All shots are from behind a window, handheld, on an overcast day. All are at f/3.8 at 300mm, anywhere from 20-30ft . I'll do some shooting outside with a tripod one of these days when I have time to set up
strange bokeh in this one on the branches in the background
Flying pigs, that feeder was full 5 days ago, and subtract another 2 inches of seed later this same day
Pretty decent for being behind a window!

What I'm really looking for, is a lens to do wildlife photography while backpacking w/o breaking my back. So something with some decent reach as I'm not satisfied with my DA L 50-200mm, in reach or I/Q. This would be my secondary lens (primary being the DA 17-70) that I would use specifically for wildlife so I'll be above 200mm most of the time. The DA* series is above my price range and too big. It looks like the DA 55-300mm ED is my best bet as its not too massive of a lens and isn't too expensive.
Does anyone have any other suggestions? Anything that goes above 300mm without breaking the bank? If not, is there anything with better I/Q then the 55-300mm? The sigma 70-300mm's don't seem to have the best reviews...
Any input is welcome!

I have 2 sets of these Sanyo 2700mah 1.2v for my K2000 for the high capacity and they last much longer then any other AA's i've used under 2700mah (including 1.5v), besides lithiums.
I also use this charger, the La Crosse BC-900 charger Amazon.com: La Crosse BC-900 Complete Battery Charger with Batteries & More!: Electronics
People often overlook the charger but really its just as important as buying a good battery. Those cheap quick chargers will in time destroy batteries, whereas i'll be using mine for a very very long time.

The lens is the DA 35mm Limited, Im holding mine right here and it looks exact. Camera def. isnt a KM, nor K20/K10 if you look at where the plastic fits together and where the screws are, though it is close to the K20

A friend of mine who is a canon shooter (her studio owns the cameras) normally shoots with 20d's and 30d's, for the last year or so. I've had my K2000 for about 2 months, and she asked to see it once, and when she picked it up it was interesting to see her reaction about how it felt. I've never held any canon over an XSI, but I was just surprised to see her reaction. Then after I told her about the lenses, weather sealing (except on the K2000 body) and in body SR, and showing a few shots from my DA35mm Limited, she's thinking about buying Pentax when she is able to purchase her own system. Just thought I'd throw that in there to back up the point that all you have to do is "put it in their hands."
