Hi bob, thanks for your reply. It is rather surprise to hear the performance of 60-250 + pentax 1.4x tc is not good. May I know if you are using DA HD 1.4x tc?

Hi, I got a local deal for good conditioned aus jena mc 135 3.5 for less than usd 100. I own a DFA 100 non-wr and F 70-210. I would like to buy a lens with focal length of 135 as I like it when I use my f70-210. I'm also considering to buy a tamron or kenko 1.4x tc to to use with my Dfa100 to make up the focal length.
May I know if anyone has compared the image quality of dfa 100 +1.4x tc vs CZJ 135? Which one will give a better IQ and colours?
Many thanks in advanced for all your replies.

FA43. I hope I won't regret later by giving up FA77.

My situation is similar to yours. I own a sigma 30 1.4 first and then bought a fa43 and fa77 later. After owning those limited lenses, I found I'm less satisfied with sigma's colours. So I bought a da35 macro and it is really shining. It has macro features that is not a feature of sigma 30 and fa43 which I use it quite frequently. It also take nice portrait picture of my nearly 3 year old son, though I still love to use fa43 for portrait shots of him. I seldom use fa77 for his portrait as he does not like to stay too far away from me when we are at outdoor.
The da macro lens is my walkabout lens now. I would still keep my sigma 30 as it has taken some of my best portrait shots of my son in the past.
Fyi I also own 2 manual pentax 28mm and 1 tokina 28 lenses which I seldom use them now.

I have been using k200d for more than 6 years and recently upgraded to a k30. I really miss the top LCD as I always turn off the rear screen of k30.
If I do not need the better iso performance of k30, I would rather carry my k200d for its better jpeg engine.

If price is not a big issue, always buy the top quality lens first appear in your mind. Otherwise you will always wondering whether to get that particular lens if you go for a cheaper option in the first place. FA77 is really superb imho and it's superior than my tamron 28-75 zoom lens for portrait shot.

I would think the choice of a only limited lens is largely depending on your preferred focal length. For me I would vote for FA43 as it's taking the best portrait photo of my little boy.

I have always wanted to buy FA35 and FA50 when I saw them at marketplace. I have sigma 30 and A50 1.7 at that time. However, I went straight to get the FA43 instead , knowing that I would get it in one day. It seldom leaves my camera after that and I have never regretted.

How's the flare resistance of the lens? I have a SMC F 70-210 and it's quite useless under bright front light. Other than that, it's taking sharp photos with nice saturated colour.

Sigma 30 1.4
Pentax FA 43
Pentax DFA 100
That's what I have and be happy with the setup.

Go to setting item 12 OK button when shooting. Then select option 3 enable AF. You can refer to page 103 of manual for details.

they all look great. My tamron 18-250 combined with k200D didn't do so well in low light.

thanks for sharing. I found the similar settings can also be done at my k200d. Definitely will try to master the technique to improve my focusing skill.
