Hi Everyone.
A couple of questions and comments. First of all, great shots. I tried some star shots last night but my results were poor. I was at f8 / 800 iso for 60 to 90 seconds. I have a couple of theories. A, it just wasn't dark enough about an hour after after sunset or there is just to much light pollution. You can't see all that many stars with the naked eye. Also can anyone tell me if you can make the shutter stay open for an hour or two (for star trails) without manually holding the shutter release. I am going the Desert in Namibia this november and would like to to take some night shots.

Hi Charlezap.
Thanks and I agree it did need some brightening. I was a dull morning here on the west coast and I did underexpose the picture by 1/2 a stop (to up my shutter speed as it was a little windy ). I lightened it up a bit in PP but I usually have to revisit these things a couple of times before I get it right.

I bought this lens used last year (at a bargain price of $700 I think ) and I never ceases to impress me. This picture was taken a the minimum focusing distance of about 6 ft. and is about a 70% crop. I love this lens.

Hi Everyone.
I just got a pentax 1.7x converter and tried it out on the weekend. These are a couple of shots. I'm not sure what to think. I know the 300 smc sets a pretty high bar for as far as image quality so any drop in iq has to be expected. Anyway, any thoughts or hints would be appreciated.

The only user mode I have used so far is for hdr. saves changing to j peg from raw.

Hi everyone.
I,m not sure how this would work but I wonder if there could be a forum that might connect travellers with pentax (or any other) camera enthusiasts. It would be great to get local information about the best views, hidden places etc. People could communicate by e mail or go out on day trips and so on.
Just an idea.
