Don't you hate to have to carry both the DA* 16-50 and the DA* 50-135 to match the range of one Nikon lens? I thought about this before buying the 24-105mm L lens for my 30d.

I guess you can say that I'm a pixel peeper. I think they came out a little soft. I should used raw, but didn't get into using it until I got my 30d.

When I had my k10d I used a Sigma 18-200mm lens. Most of the pics came out just fine using 100 iso, the only problem was the quality of the glass showed. |

Well, I did it, I bought my first L, a 24-105mm. I just can't go backwards in quality.

I've been thinking about switching back to Pentax and getting a k20d. I can't see spending $$$ on L lens in this economy. Help lure me back. Is the k20d that much better than the k10d I had???

When I had my k10d I never shot in raw so I didn't get a chance to use Pentax's Photo Lab software. I've been shooting raw with my 30d since I bought it and use Canon's Digital Photo Professional. Is Pentax's conversion software on par with Canon's? I only ask because I may pick up a Pentax k100d to play with. Thanks.....

Why are your pics over saturated and noisy (grainy?) Did you use high ISO?

True, it does. Nothing beats a magnesium body though. I told the OP to buy a flash because I'm under the impression that he thinks the IS kit lens will do better in low light than the Tamron. I'm guessing he has a blur issue with low shutter speeds. A bounced flash will help with his Tamron lens.

Dude, the XSi is still an entry level "plastic" camera. Atleast the Pentax had weather seals. You should have gone for a 30d/40d/50d or k10d/k20d. Thats right I forgot, you sold your solidly built magnesium bodied 30d that shot at 5 fps with great high ISO performance and superior IQ. I can guarantee that in a months time after the plastic loosens up and starts creaking you will be crying and selling it. How much money have you lost since you started buying camera equipment anyway???
Xti and Xsi: Wow, big difference in body size, just a larger LCD and rounder. |

The XTi and XSi are the same size and made out of the same cheap creaky plastic. The only thing the XSi has over the XTi is live view and a bigger LCD. You were better off keeping the XTi and buying an L lens. And honestly, why would you think that the kit lens is better than the Tamron, because it has IS??? Buy a flash!!!

I want 5 fps, AFC that can track and faster AF, then I would be more than happy to switch back to Pentax so I can afford lenses again.

OK, I have to ask, why didn't you like the 30d? The only real difference between it and the 40d is live view, sensor cleaning and a slightly larger screen.

Why an Xsi? The Xsi is still a cheap plastic bodied entry level dslr, the only advantage it has over your current Xti is live view. You should have gone with a low milage 30d or even a 40d. The 5d's are getting pretty cheap also now that the 5d mkII is out. Your going to want to sell the Xsi in a month and be back to square one.

Dude, what is with you? Why do you keep buying and selling equipment? Why are you going with the Xti over the K100d? I honestly don't understand why you got rid of your Canon 30d and 28-135mm IS lens. The 30d is head and shoulders above the k10d or k20d!!!

You are a total tea bag!!! To the OP, if Pentax isn't doing it for you, I'd seriously look into a lightly used Canon 30d and spend the rest on IS based lenses. You'll be in heaven when using telephoto lenses, theres no wobble while looking through the viewfinder.

Sell the XTi and buy some Pentax lenses. The build quality on my XTi wasn't that good. I grew tired on the plastic body creaking after two months. The Pentax K10d body I had was more solid, as I'm sure your K100D is. I really like the magnesium body of my 30d and have my fingers crossed that Pentax's new body will be magnesium.

Nope, the Patriot Act, it's one nasty piece of legislation, LE can hold anyone they want to for no reason at all. I made a trip down to Adorama a few months ago on an Amtrak and the same thing almost happened to me, except I was approached by a transit cop. He asked, "what are you doing?" I said, "talking some pictures for my scrap book." I then showed him my ID and badge, he said, "have a nice day" and went on his marry little way to harrass some one else.
