Thank you for your comment rparmar
@ cloudswimmer; that is 2 very nice photos!
@ séamuis; now that you mention it I`ve seen those from time to time on the scandinavian used market. I would definitely like to try it at some point, but i might go for a holga due to the prize.
Best regards

There seems to be a limited production of film as some enthusiasts have purchased part of a factory in Europe. They market the stuff on this website the IMPOSSIBLE project
Expect yours truly to want to pay for it in this day and age:D
600film could be used in the sx-70 for instance, with some modification. I believe film for the sx-70 is available again at 2-3 dollars pr. photo...
Polaroid has had a following of Holga users as you can use a polaroid back on the Holga. I wouldn`t mind one of those.
For me it is a great experience, i love it and seriously hope that it will make it into the future.
The image below was made with 600film on an sx-70. Excuse my abilities with a scanner but feel free to comment anyway.

I used a swab on some stubborn dust. 1st time was a very nervous affair but surprisingly easy after all.
%&¤"#" dust finds it`s way in no matter :-)

Interesting poll.
I think the bulk of my photos are taken with new (autofokus) lenses, but equal in amount of photo joy. There is normally more consideration to the shots when using the older lenses, mostly primes also.

All the lenses were set at 50mm actually, the variation you see is me not staying in the same spot.. Point taken about precision in my method.
They were also all done at f5,6. due to lighting conditions.
I appreciate the input here. Next time i will try a land/cityscape, with a smaller aperture.
Thank you!

I was a bit curios about the FA 50 f1,4 and the A 50 f1,7 since there has been some post about them in the past days. For my use it seems autofocus is the difference.

Thanks for the input timestone.
Basically what I notice with this subject is that its difficult to see a difference in the end result.
I was surprised that the 28-80 zoom performed so well, i was expecting alot of purple fringing as i have seen before. I may have to use it some more. past 80mm it also has macro zoom.
I used the A-zoom on a pentax p30, wich was given to me in my youth. at the time i didn`t know how to use my old m42 takumars so it was my only lens for some time and it nearly killed the joy of photography. I mainly had problems with focus and exposure. the p30 with M 40mm 2,8 and A 50mm 1,7 focus and meter much better so i still blame the lens.

A while ago i read this review of a lens I have had for several years: Pentax Lens Review and Specification Database - 28-80mm F3.5-4.5
As i found the rating a bit on the high side i decided that i had to revise my opinion with a test on my k100d. I decided to take a few shots with the tamron 28-75 f2.8, Pentax FA 50 f1.4, A50 1,7, the DA 18-55 and the above mentioned lens. The shots where done at 400 iso f5.6 at 50mm.
This is my first actual comparison of lenses, and my first mistake was to take pictures of an object that was to close for the pentax A-zoom. I might redo it and if anyone has a suggestion for a better object to photograph don`t hesitate to suggest any.
Tamron:
FA 50 f1.4:
A50 1,7:
DA 18-55
Pentax A-zoom 28-80

Adapters: SLR Lenses on other SLR Bodies
look under "Classic discontinued (and often hard to find) Adapters". It could well be a m42 screw mount, in which case you can use the m42 to pentax K adapter. Some m42 mounts may however have a 42mm diameter but not the right size dept if i recall.
Sounds like an interesting opportunity. Good luck to you.

Hi.
nice to see this question. I bought both lenses at the same time and I am very happy with both. A lot of good advise has been given and I like many think the 28-75 will suit the use that you describe. 28 isn`t to wide on my k100d, so I second those suggesting something in the kit range only faster.
Of course i recommend both lenses and something 2,8 in the 17/18 - 50mm:lol:

I have had the opportunity to use the lens on a different camera system and will recommend it based on that experience.
On my k100d i also went for a 2.8 zoom, but the 28-75 to replace the 18-55. A few days ago i put the "kit" lens on because i wanted something wider but i came off shortly after due to the speed.
With a few more stops to play with you also get more flexibility with the iso and speed.
But always a hard choice if you have to sell one to get another though :p
Best regards

The crop looks nice with the diagonal line from the corner, but on the other hand som of the depth is lost when the upper part of the photo was removed.

Hi Adam.
I just want to say that the lens review database is a great resource.
The work put into it is much appreciated, as well as the user contributions of course.
Many thanks

Very nice.
the color combination of the wall and, i guess, a person moving past, togheter whith the lines, makes it interesting to view. The light on the right could help situating the perspective. However many interesting crop options with all the lines in the walls/roof.
Thanks

Interesting project alohadave.
the 1st shopping cart is best in my opinion, in nr 3. the reflection in the water forces my attention away from the bits and pieces in the stream. In nr 2 there could be a better seperation of cart from the environment.
Trash and nature, or in nature is interesting. It plays on a seperation of man (culture) and the environment. As an Anthropologist this is on of my favourite topics.
Looking forward to seeing more trash pictures :-)

Alot. especially 1,2and,3. 5 could have been great as well, perhaps a different angle.
Its the color and realism that grabbes my attention. Could you explain how you got this look, i definately need to learn something here.
