Hi All.
We've all read about the legendary ability of Pentax bodies and appropriate lenses to resist water and dust. I didn't realize that there is actually a standard to evaluate electronic equipment and its ability to resist water and dust called INGRESS. I learned, for example that Olympus equipment scores a 55 (whatever that really means). I was wondering if there are actually INGRESS scores for Pentax equipment as well. I'm sure with a little searching I can also find what those numbers standardize to, but if you have that info as well, it would be interesting.

Hi All.
I sent my Pentax binoculars (10X43) to Precision and they sent my binoculars back with little fanfare. All I need is an eye cup for a lost one, but a good cleanup would be nice too. I purchased several 3rd party eyepieces from the likes of ebay and amazon, but no luck with a good fit. I am in the US, but will entertain sending them out of country if I can get assurances they can repair them. Any suggestions?
Thank you for your help.

I *may* have a damaged one. If you still need it, I can dig in my bin for you.

As an owner of somewhere upwards of 40 lenses (K mount and M42) I only have two of the lenses you noted the 150-450 and 15-30. I thought about this question to see how I would answer it. As a serious nature photographer mostly my needs change with the subject pretty broadly. I may actually take two or three macros into the field one day and one of several telephotos for bird photos the next. If I need real reach sometimes it is a 600mm f5.6 A, another day the 150-450, and if I'm traveling light maybe to 80-400 Tokina or 400mm f5.6 Sigma APO. When I am shooting lights for Christmas invariably the M42s come out because they are so much fun to use. So I guess unlike you, I don't have a favorite lens. ---------- Post added 09-20-2023 at 11:01 AM ---------- As an owner of somewhere upwards of 40 lenses (K mount and M42) I only have two of the lenses you noted the 150-450 and 15-30. Okay I am finally back on-line. It is not a numbers 1 [IMG].
The camera had the 150-450 on it so I feel rather fortunate this was the only issue. The camera functions fine.
Glad to hear it is an estimate only. Will send it in.

Sorry the WiFi is pretty bad here. I can't get a photo loaded. I suppose it must be the 'smart function' button, again it is on top of the camera lower right hand corner about 1.5 CM in diameter. It just looks like I need a new one snapped on.

On the top of the camera, on the lower right side there is a circular wheel like button. On my k1 it rotates but doesn't have a function, on the k3 I don't even think it rotates.

I am currently traveling (Costa Rica) and my K3 iii got knocked over on a tripod. The camera functions fine but the little non functional know On top was lost. I went to Precision Cameras web site and I was quoted an insane $450 dollars for a repair, which is insane and highway robbery for something that seems to be only cosmetic. Is there anyway around their Monopoly blockade that I might be able to get a replacement without breaking the bank? I'd live with it, but it would be a constant reminder of a foolish accident.

Hi All.
I hope there is someone out here who can help me. I recently lost the eyecup on my Pentax 10X43 DCF Binoculars. I contacted Richo but just got a list of stores that generally sells Pentax equipment. I have searched B&Hs, Roberts, and Adorama pages without success so would appreciate any info anyone might have to obtain a replacement.

Hi All.
I know this exists. The recommended batteries for Spotmatics of the correct voltage are too small for the body and I recall hearing there is an adapter of sorts that you can use with the smaller battery. Does anyone know where I can pick one up?
Thanks!

So in context. I will be in Costa Rica (my third time) and my favorite subjects are frogs. Previously doing macro I have shot like f11 to f16 to get as much in focus as possible, but it would be nice to get more of my subject in focus through focus stacking. I really wish Pentax had this built into our lens/body choices, but short that I'd like to use focus stacking with the software out there.

Hello All.
Anyone here do any stacking for macro? I'd like to hear from you want software and equipment you are using (lenses, rails, etc.)
Thanks!

Hi All.
On all my other Pentax cameras I have been careful to switch off the Image Stabolizing feature when the camera is on a tripod (K3 M1, K5ii, K1) but on the K3 Mark 3 you have the options "Auto", "Off", and "Panning". I'm a bit confused. So if you are off tripod I suppose "Auto" is the best option, but if you ARE shooting from a tripod should you still be careful to NOT have the IS turned on? Or does it not matter?

Funny, I ALSO bought a 24mm FA from Roberts! (mine has a small dent), and I have a K1. I just repeated your image. I would say you are right, at the edges it is not super sharp. It is very sharp across most of the field though.

I was trying to get Uranus and it was very dim. Since I was using a manually focused lens (600mm f5.6 A) critical focusing is what I need.
Thanks for the suggestions.

Hi All.
I have been trying to manually nail my focus of planets with a 600mm f5.6 A +1.4X_L TC on the K3 M3 and simply find the screen too small to focus on planets, so I'd like to use my Android phone as an external monitor. I have found good APPs to view photos once I've taken them but, but not APPs to view the images live. (Sorry, I am not particularly adept finding good APPs. Any recommendations?
Thanks!

Hi All.
I am always looking for better macro flash options. I have a pretty decent diffuser system with a 360 flash, but I was thinking more of a non-ring light multi-flash system, something that I can get the light more out in front of the lens. I am going to be using this for Costa Rica so I need a system that maybe will allow me get amphibians in sito It would e nice also if the system can crunch down a bit for travel.
I appreciate your suggestions.

The ability to automatically stack the objects in focus for macro sounds really cool. You CAN do it with software, but it would be a huge time saver to have that processed in camera. One day, but I'll wait. I do a lot of macro though so it is worth considering.
