It does have green button functionality - in manual mode, hit the EV comp lever. You can customise what it does in Key Custom Options>One Press M Mode.

In P mode, you can use the dials to override and change the aperture. Hit the EV comp lever to return it back to program setting.

Some from the Singapore Zoo, shot with Nikon D3, 70-200 VR2 and a rented TC-20e III. Quite a useful combo, although one must be very careful using the TC with a Blackrapid-style strap. As it dangles upside down, the lens release button could easily be accidentally depressed, releasing the lens (don't think you'll be carrying anything heavier than a 70-200/2.8 this way though) onto the ground behind you. Had a couple of close-calls over the course of the day:eek:

Anyway, here are the shots.. Tried to shoot and edit with a theme of "Animal emotions/expressions" in mind..

Sold the X100, got it back, might keep it for good because I kinda missed using it.. Such a fun daily snapshot camera that can double up as a really serious image maker

Goodbye to everyone on this thread... I've been feeling more and more that I was using my X100 almost like a point and shoot (f/2-2.8, shutter on A, ISO Auto) more and more and felt like it was too big and complicated for that purpose. An opportunity presented itself to trade my X100 for something completely new to me photographically, so I jumped on it. I know the new owner is already having a blast with the X100, and I wish all of you the best with your Fuji X's!

Here in Singapore, we have these mobile ice cream vendors that sell ice cream in the downtown area from ice boxes attached to their motorcycles or bicycles. The most common ice cream served is a $1 rectangular slab of a flavor of your choice, served in between two wafer biscuits or in a slice of rainbow-colored bread. The ice cream sellers are all old men as the government only issued the downtown licenses once in 1974. I'm sure if you come visit Singapore you'll be having this ice cream every day in the 70 degree heat!

The lens has to be stopped down to at least f/4 when shooting macros or else there will be softness. "However, when shooting macro shots with an open aperture in the neighborhood of F2, spherical aberration tends to occur. It is therefore recommended that an aperture value of F4 is selected for macro applications." - Fuji X100 website

I bought a 85/1.8G when it first came out but I didn't like the focal length (don't shoot much portraits) so I traded it with a guy for a 24-70 (+$1000 from me). Such an amazing lens.. I don't think I will ever sell mine :D

Which 24-120 VR is this, the variable aperture one that isn't too well regarded? Good that your camera is fine after the accident though!

1. Haha that's interesting.. When I had the Pentaxes I would hold and twist the lens with my left hand while my right ring finger simply reaches out to depress the button. That seemed like the most convenient thing to do as my right hand didn't even have to change position at all

2. Pro tip about changing Nikon lenses: Strobist: Pro Tip: How to Quick-Change an SLR lens

Agreed, think it's got to do with the original design of the F mount back when camera bodies were small relative to the lenses. Anyway here's how I change my lens: I grab the body with my left hand and point the lens to the right, grab around the lens with my right hand with the index finger closest to the lens mount and the tip of the finger near the lens release button, depress the lens release button with the right index finger while grabbing the lens, twist lens away. Definitely not as simple as the perfect Pentax way, but practice makes good enough!

We managed to spend a night in a room in one of the round houses that hadn't been converted into a tourist trap. It was very simple living, to say the least. The bed was a thin foam mattress on a wooden bed frame, and there was no toilet inside the building and the main door is locked at night to keep out intruders. Solution: a red bucket just outside the room door.. It was quite an experience though!
