Ronald, do you see pictures now? I had attached pictures from a previous thread, but I didn't realize that those images were only visible to me. I deleted the old attachments and reuploaded the images.

Went camping in Death Valley National Park the other weekend. I got a few decent landscapes that I thought I'd share.

Switzerland - bring the DA*300 or leave it at home?

I went to Switzerland and Germany a year and a half ago, and I managed pretty well with my K-1 and just the FA 28mm and FA 50mm. Maybe something slightly longer would have been nice in some situations, but I don't feel like I missed out on too much without a telephoto. I think you'll end up using your 16-85mm for 99% of your shots.

The Swiss Alps are amazing, and the mountains are so gigantic and "close" that I ended up shooting a lot of wide angle and panoramas. We didn't really run into any wildlife, unless you count the cows (not really wild) grazing in the mountains. A 300mm might have been nice to get closer to the cows, but I think your 16-85mm would do well enough.

Does the 1.4x work well with the 16-85mm?

I've been trying to get the shot Downtown LA with the mountains in the background. It was a very clear day today, but I still got some clouds in the distance, so I decided to do a panorama with my new-to-me 300mm f/4.5.

Eight shots at f/11, ISO 100 stitched together:

I managed to snag an F* 300mm f/4.5 for $239 at a local camera shop on Saturday. I'm still giddy about it.

I brought my light weight travel tripod and ended up getting a lot of shaky photos from my FA 400mm in the low light and light breeze. I thought the first image turned out pretty good though. The second one is from my DA 200mm.
