I did not have access to my wife's K-r yesterday but I was able to test the Sigma 24-60 with her camera today. Our examples seem to function just fine with no problem.

Has the aperture ring been knocked of the A setting? That would just be a guess.
Edit: Sorry, I did not remember it does not have an aperture ring. I did pull mine out and test it on the K-5 and it worked fine.

Thank you. I was afraid of that. I don't mind Adobe bringing out a new version of LR every year but ceasing to support software they sold so recently is poor service on their part. I was afraid that would be the answer but at least now I know.
Now I have a reason to be grateful Pentax chose to support two RAW formats!

I have Lightroom 2.7 which appears to be latest update available for that program. My wife and I got a his and hers K-5 and K-r combo for Christmas. Lightroom seems to have an issue with the RAW files from both cameras.
Lightroom will not import PEFs from either camera. In Picasa (which I use for the library) the K-5 PEFs are pure black. The K-r PEFs are there but the colors are changed in an odd fashion (reds become blues for one thing). DNG Raw does work from the K-5 and I am going to guess it will work from the K-r but I would prefer the PEF if those can be made to work.
Am I simply going to have to upgrade to LR3? I did find Pentax had new software to make Windows recognize K-5 and K-r files but installing that did not seem to change anything. Is anyone successfully using LR2 with PEF files from either of these cameras?
Thanks.

We had a Pentax Christmas with my wife getting a K-r and and the K-5 sitting under the tree for me. I don't tend to do much "testing" but in playing with each of them in our back yard I was very impressed with both cameras. We were coming from the K100d and K20d if that helps.
The K-r seems to focus just as quickly and confidently as the K-5. The shutter is louder but not louder than any other Pentax camera we have owned previously. I have followed the K-5 stain issue but I am not sure what problems have been associated with the K-r, thus far, we do not seem to have any problems though. Both our cameras were purchased through Amazon.
