I usually shoot JPG. Whenever I edit an image in PSE, I see something referring to what I think is the image size in MB, e.g., 28.7. But when I save it, I see it as something much smaller. I'd like to sell some of my images, but there is a lower size limit on the site I want to use (24 MB), and I don't want to have my pictures rejected because I don't have them at least at the 24 MB size. Is there something in the camera itself that I should be changing to keep the image from being compressed?

I can see so many different applications for this versatile card. Just a few are: a wedding photographer can upload pictures "on the fly" to a laptop and have an assistant send those uploaded pictures back to the photographer's shop where they will be ready for review and editing, as well as being safe from being lost or damaged. A crime scene investigator could take pictures of evidence at a crime scene and have them uploaded for immediate use by other officers. A wildlife photographer could take many pictures of animals he or she is observing and not have to stop to switch out SD cards and know the pictures are safely being stored at a remote location. A press photographer could immediately upload pictures of a breaking story in time for publishing in a newspaper or magazine.

Maybe there should be a separate contest for "Birds, Cooked"

Ah! Definitely living up to my handle, with emphasis on the "Newby". Thanks, elg; glad I didn't trash the firmware, better half would not have been amused.

I have a K-x (K-2000) and have followed the directions, but when I turn on the camera with the "Menu" button held down, I see the firmware version, but no message about the firmware being updated. What am I doing wrong?

I've been reading up on rear curtain sync photography and would like to try it with my K2000. If I understand the manual correctly, what Pentax calls "trailing curtain sync" is the equivalent of "rear curtain sync". The manual says I can use either the built in flash or an external unit (either the AF540FGZ or the AF360FGZ). Since I'm not working right now, buying either of the AF units isn't a reality (for awhile, anyway). Can I use another external flash unit, keeping in mind using a slower shutter speed?

Hi, all. I finally got a chance to use my new K2000 yesterday, and in the process of exploring what it can do, I found the Bulb setting. Hallelujah! Remembering what fun I had using it on my K1000 and B&W film, I tried it a couple of times; no joy. Nothing but white on the LCD monitor. My question is this; seeing as how with color film you can experience that pesky reciprocity error if you have the shutter open too long, how long is long enough for the Bulb setting on a DSLR, and what is the optimal range for f-stops?
Thanks all.
