So, all we need for a credible rumor are some blurry images and spelling errors? Good to know....

The underlined part states clearly, that they intended to call a previous model "k-z". But they didn't because Pentax Ger/AU/CH knew about the problems.
So these blurry images and rumors are OFFICIALLY DEBUNKED.
We will get some new DSLRs - but this rumor about a k-z ist nothing but fake.

Hi Pentax
What about an official dementi concerning the name of the successor? Something like "No one has the intention of erecting a wall building a camera called 'k-z'! "
(Yes, pun intended)

Red body, white lens, one central 'special' cross-type focus point.
Or we could ask Borat to make some ads about best camera to make country proud.

"My" Q-pro would look like this:
- IR-cut removeable or replaceable (to take IR or UV images or even fullrange images)
- Moviemodes: 1080p30, 720p60, VGA@240fps, CIF@480fps
- let me choose (in movie mode) to bin, to drop lines or to crop
- swiveling flash (0°, 30°, 60° and 90°)
- scriptable (like chdk, but not only focusstacking, hdr and so on - the SR could be abused to shift, as a field-derotator and as 'Astrotracer' - to attach GPS isn't even necessary)
- electronic shutter can be used with every exposuretime

Again, they didn't start their viral campaign with 'superior iq', 'nice set of features', 'rugged' or anything else that could be useful for photographers.
No, the campaign is about a camera with the main purpose to look nice. (Just like 'KO-1, designed by Marc Newson').
Don't get me wrong - I do like cameras that look the way I think they should look like - but thats preferably all black, black + tigerstripe-camo or dull brass + brown leather. (maybe I'll post some rendered images tomorrow)

It is a hard time - and the reason for many companys to spend several 100k$ to find 'good' names.
Most people also realized that 'Pinto' or 'Pajero' didn't intend any sexual pun....

Pentax.jp knows about the problem calling a camera "K-Z" - it was the original name of the k-r.....
So I think the blurry letter either translates to i or s.
And I hope that these colors aren't like 'Barbie-Pink', 'Bumblebee-Yellow' and ''Baby-Blue' but 'black', 'tigerstripe' and 'brass + brown leather'.

The KO-1 is "the new hope". So clicks don't depend on its possibilities - it's just the first reasonable mirrorless APS-C.
Unfortunately, most of he features neccessary for most of the photographers are abscent - so we'll see just "clicks".

70/1.8 ? Where can I find some more Information about this lens?
Apart from that, it's impossible to build it for 29mm filters due to atway larger frontlens - even if you accept vignetting, the thread has to be at least 39mm. I thinkt thy'd go for 49mm oder 52mm.

It also depends if the battery has time to regenerate - if I pause for several minutes between shots, most DSLR allow me to take ~1000 pictures.
But if I shoot continuously (e.g. to capture startrails) most batteries are empty after ~200 shots or less - even if I don't use LV.

Indeed.
But quite typical for bars, clubs and partys. I guess there are some people out there who would love a camera that doesn't need a flash oder AF-assist light in such conditions.
What else is a camera good for, that is small enough to be carried in an jacket or small handbag, is bundled with a decent 40/2.8 and gives outstanding iq up to iso6400 and smaller prints up to iso25600?;)

Both are IR - and via IR the K-01 doesn't feature 'Bulb'-mode.
Maybe Pentax will change this (just some small changes by firmware) or even enables the mic input to be used as wired remote input (like some of the Panasonics).
C-mount won't work (flange focal distance 17.526 mm (0.69 inches)). But teleskopes do, just get a T-2 adapter.

Thanks for the quick addendum. "Finally, the O-GPS1 unit's astrotracer feature is not yet fully supported. Pentax says that an upcoming firmware update will address this."
Considering such firmwareupgrades (maybe even some more of the collected suggestions), annoucing new gear on a weekly basis..... I think it's an understatement to pretend 'Pentax is back'. They are better than ever:D

Not an 'issue', but I think there are some more missing features according to the manual:
Compared to k-r:
- 'Bulb' can't be activated via IR-remote
- O-GPS1 not fully supported (Astrotracer doesn't work)
Compared to k-5:
- no wired remote [microphone-jack could be used to plug in a remote after some minor changes in firmware]
- 12Bit-dng [some samples would be nice to compare it to 14.bit in critical situations; maybe it doesn't make any difference anyway]

And we'd miss the AF-assist beam using a 7d...and we'd miss small primes. No idea why, but Canikon and Sony are unable or unwilling to build them. At least Nikon had some small primes in their lineup.
But, in general, I think we shouldn't compare the K-01 to other cameras. It's too different to other ones.
Simply compare it to your wishes or have a look at the k-01 pics and vids. Are these the pictures you would like to take? Great, buy it.
But if you look at your own pics and realize they couldn't be done with a k-01:
RANT and hope, Pentax/Ricoh will give you some minor changes with a k-02 or even some additional lines in the firmware.

I wonder if it's possible (or could become possible) to use the mic-jack to attach a wired remote. Most Panas can do this.

To me, too. BUT it's definetely not a fail for everyone. I'm simply not part of their target audience - when i reviewed the last 200 pics I took and read the manual I had to realize, that none of my pictures could be realized with a k-01, except some snapshots I took with a p&s.
But I'm sure Pentax will continue to build some decent cameras - maybe a mirrorless in between k-r and k-5 with some more enthusiastic features or at least a wired remote to compensate the lack of possibilities.

Not anymore. I delete them after stacking - but usually I get 1 usable frame out of 10; sometimes less, depends on seeing.

Yes, if you want full-AF for every ffd from Leica M to Pentacon Six; maybe even larger than the 645d.
But it fits well into a K-01, if we stay within a ffd from 40 to 48mm and use it as assisted-AF (manual prefocusing; e.g. if you are outdoors and most of the objects are approx. 12-20m away you prefocus ~15m and let the camera do the precise focusing.)
Without SR even Leica M would be possible - but I think most useres prefer SR.

I shoot most of my videos in windy conditions @ 1250mm and beyond. It's called 'lucky imaging':)
edit:
didn't use a k-01, obviously. But a k-02 could make similar shots possible, if 'digital zoom' during video is enabled. The 1st picture could be done with a k-01, too - but the IQ wouldn't be that mediocre...

Cropping afterwards means, you take a scaled down picture/video and take the center to scale it up.
--> it's like digital zoom on cheap p&s cameras.
But cropping during recording means you simply use the pixels in the center - no scaling down, no scaling up. So either higher fps and smaller filesize (stills) or high quality digital zoom during video.

Pentax could use the empty space between cmos and optics to move the cmos:
a) the k-02 could offer AF with any lens, like M42 or M/A. (just like the Contax AX)
b) we could use every lens ever produced, even Canon FD, M39, Nikon F....
c) if it also tilts, we could have an internal tilt-adapter. If we attach an additional external tilt-adapter, it's like Scheimplfug told us to tilt..
d) to prevent damage due to ID-10T users, Pentax could place the hot mirror just like Sigma in front of the shutter and make it replaceable and optionally IR-sensitive.

- up to 14x magnification during lv
- optional 'digital zoom' during video (cropping instead of scaling)
- higher fps at reduced size (720p@ 60fps is excellent, but upt to 240fps @ VGA could be quite nice)
- enable ir-remote in 'bulb'-mode
- expand 'M' to 'bulb' ; instead of limiting t to 30sec gimme some selectable longer exposuretimes like 60sec, 120sec 240sec a.s.o.)
- custom AE-bracketing (is it soooo difficult, to take 5, 9 or 15 frames instead of 3?)
- focus-bracketing
- allow me to enter celestial and terrestial coordinates to use it as astrotracer (could be used to calibrate gauge + compass @ k-5, too, instead of swirling it around and hoping this time it will be accurate enough to avoid startrails[it almost never was..])
