yeah, good luck with that.
See? Someone has already done the mental gymnastics for you!
Only three?:hmm:
I'm still in the habit of only reviewing things I buy, If you are given things with the aim of publishing an opinion that will influence others on the virtues of a product you're somewhat obliged to write something positive about it.
Thankfully I have rarely, if ever made a bad purchasing decision. Though I have been offered a lot of crap to review though.

I'd say this is a pretty accurate take on the situation of Phone photography, which incidentally I consider to be an equivalent to a polaroid.
DSLR sensors are architecturally designed to be as insensitive to UV/IR light as possible, while CCDs have a thicker photoelectron detection (or EPI) layer that does make them more sensitive to IR CMOS sensors, which have a much thinner layer and are thus more insensitive to it. The move to BSI has also affected Quantum efficiency in ways that do enhance sensitivity to UV/IR light.

Remember the times when CMOS sensors were considerably noisier than CCDs? Remember the times when camera sensors couldn't handle long exposures past 30 seconds? Remember when camera sensors with 3Mp cost almost as much as a new car?
Sensor technologies are bound to improve and be expanded upon. This is a first attempt by SONY at getting a global shutter into a consumer product, I wouldn't be such a harsh critic of the technology just yet.

If compactness is highly desirable the DA21 is well worth a look, however many have stated that optically the DA21 is the weakest performer of the DA limited lenses. Even the DA 15mm f/4 (as slow as it is) cops less flak than the DA21 as the DA15 f/4* has unique optical qualities among Pentax lenses.
* Though it has been said the newer HD 15 f/4 version has had some of these qualities stripped from it due to Pentax upgrading the number of aperture blades in it.

Except for the bokeh, which has a certain niche appeal and may not be to everyone's taste.
Pentax SMCP-FA*24mm f/2 ASPH @ f/2 shot on the K-1
Pentax DFA21 ED ASPH @ f/2.4 shot on the K-1
As you can probably guess i'm not really a fan of the look the FA*24 f/2 produce.
I find the FA*24's bokeh characteristics to be visually intrusive and distracting, and as for optical performance even at f/11 the corner performance on the K-1 is profoundly underwhelming.
The DFA21 is notably lighter than the DA16-85mm, and physically smaller. On APS-C the DFA21 is optically indistinguishable from the FA31 on the K-1, the DFA21 has a closer focus distance which is one of the contributing factors to why this lens is so absurdly fun to work with. The HDFA21mm f/2.4 is surprisingly light and it fits delightfully well even on the small cameras like the pentax KP. |

They look like Arca/RRS knock offs to my eyes.
I have worked with the Manfrotto 405 geared head for well over 10 years, and over that time it has never failed me. I have had to change over the lubricant with a longer lasting lithium grease a few years ago, but I consider that to be basic maintenance. I can't speak for the Manfrotto 410 junior geared head but the maintenance of the 405 was tricky but doable. The 405 is a very heavy tripod head but save for the proprietary RC4 mounting plates it is well worth the investment.
Geared heads combined with focus rails are a must for macrophotogaphy. .

There was a small cluster of HARDCORE large format photographers on there in the early 2000s. Sadly most of them have passed away now, all their knowledge gone from the world.

Sometimes stopping down to f/11 and further are the only options you have, without resorting to the tedium of focus stacking.

Nothing beats having some cherries to munch on for Christmas, personally I loathe food photography as in the commercial space it is a horrendously artificial and often wasteful thing...but you can be assured I ate all of them once I was finished taking photos.
