I noticed that if I shoot with the flash on "A" and the camera at Aperture priority there are no problems with the images, even when shooting full zoom (200mm) and about 24 feet distance, though I have to remember to manually adjust the flash zoom, and make sure the f stops are the same on the flash and the camera... I must have some sort of P-TTL flash problem???

Pentax K5 on program mode.
Pentax AF360fgz on first curtain P-TTL
Sigma 18-200mm AF DC shot at about 145mm
Hi, when I shoot using this zoom, every 5th shot or so I get one or two way underexposed images, then some proper ones, then some bad ones as shown. This does not happen around the 18-50mm range of the lens.
I have the same thing happening with my 18-300?
I have tried all the types of different metering, focusing, and flash settings (HS or first, second curtain)
Auto flash zooming is working fine on the flash, I always wait till the flash is fully charged, contacts are clean.
Anyone else experiencing this?

Hi, I just picked up a dsc-v1 for infrared work. When I attach the filter holder/tube to the camera it turns off the nightshot mode and displays "nightshot is invalid"....
Thanks in advance for any advice you could give.

Wow, finally got it all back together. Though it still does not communicate to the camera that the lens is in the "A" position. Lens autofocuses and zooms great. I have to use it in the manual camera setting only. If I use Av, or program I get the flashing "f" in the viewfiner. When I use a fully working FA lens, the aperature number is displayed when in Av or program...
Oh, well,
Any one interested in purchasing it:(

Hi, I need a service manual for this lens. I tried looking for a diagram at the US patent site, but couldn't find it. I need the assembly instructions.

Well it's been three days now and I still can't get this thing assembled right. All the cam gears and their starting postitions are messing me up. I can only guess how to put the shims in when I can't even get it together first. I wonder how much pentax would charge if I just mailed all the pieces to them?

Well, I still would like to try and get it all put back together first, hence the schematic I need. There are 6 very thin shims that go in between the tubes, and it is very hard to see how they go back in. It's not something I could have taken pictures of first as the shims are buried in the assem...Also I need the diagram to show me the proper alignment of getting the assembly back together.

My initial test showed no connection on the second pin to the ground. When the lens is in the "A" position pin 2 should have continueity to ground on a working lens. (I know this from my other FA lenses) I disassembled the lens, all the pins where good. I think the problem is the very small and fine ribbon cable. No real way to fix, so I guess I am going to have to toss the lens out. Too bad, it was mint....

Hi, I have the silver Pentax FA 100-300mm 4.7 AF lens. I need the schematic for it to reassembly it.
For some reason when it is locked into the "A" position, it does not tell the camera it is locked.

Ok, so you don't think I'm crazy. I have attached two pictures. Camera was on manual. ISO 400 1/90sec f5.6. In the first pict you will see it is fairly well balanced. The second picture taken about 40 sec later is underexposed by at least 5 stops. It seems like when I turn the camera on I get the first one or two exposures with flash working fine. Then the next 3-5 picts will all be underexposed. In natural light without flash the picts are well exposed. So I think the meter is fine. I know it is not the batteries as I installed the brand new unopened lithiums that came with it.... The camera has never been dropped, bumped or mishandled.

The flash fires 100% of the time, at least 50-60% of the time it flashes incorrectly. Not providing a full flash. As I said in my previous post. All menu items are correct. Example.. camera set to full auto, iso set to 400, NO flash compensation, flash NOT set on wireless, new batteries, menu set to only fire flash after reaching full charge. Room is well lit. Shooting range about 8 feet. I can take three pictures of the exact same subject, same distance, same everything. Only one will come out properly exposed. The other two look about 3-4 stops underexposed, I even waited about 20 sec. between shoots to ensure flash is fully charged. I think this is a hardware problem and not a user caused issue.

Hi, I too discovered this problem with my K200d internal flash. I have all the menus set properly, new batteries (tried two sets) menu is set to wait until flash is charged b4 shutter fires. The flash fires incorrectly about 50% of the time, leaving totally underexposed results. Has any one contacted Pentax about this? I would hate to send my camera in and wait several months to get it back...:(
