Both motors were replaced by big $. Both failed to work again. My DA*55 is not revived. But not my DA17-70. Not sure to be :D or :mad:

Took the picture on the hiking trip at Lower Bell Canyon Reservoir in Sandy UT. It was snowing and raining in the mountains, while there was full of sunshine on the reservoir. The contrast was striking. Fall colors are almost at their peak. Light cloud in the sky softened the light a bit, making the color of the leaves more saturated ad vibrant. Some ducks were floating at the near end of the water.

because there are simply fewer than FA31 outa there (a reasonable speculation). But I will vote for DA*55 anyway. I like it a lot despite some quirks.

Accurate focusing is critical. Used it a lot as a close focusing lens indoors.

Works at f2.8 or smaller. At f1.4, there is too much abberation.

I have used FA100-300, DA55-300, DA*60-250, and Tamron 500 mirror for airshows. ( I thought they canceled all of the major air shows this year due to budget constraints). Tamron 500 mirror works OK in bright light. But it is very hard to focus and the color washes out a bit for far away objects. It is good for parachuters and steady display. It is more suitable for medium distance shots.
DA55-300 focuses a bit slow. But it is much faster than the mirror. Contrast is better than the mirror. 250-300 is not the best.
FA100-300 4.5-5.6 focuses quite fast. It does not extend when zoom. Contrast and resolution may not be as good as DA55-300, it is good enough for me. It is more heavy than DA55-300.
DA*60-250 is the most expensive and the best choice. If I do not have DA*, I would pick FA100-300 or DA55-300 as the first choice. Take the mirror as a backup. Normally, I put the mirror on my backup Kx.

One SDM contact on mine is broken. Expected cost of the repair is close to $200, since Criscam insists to replace the SDM motor as well. I have not had any major issues with the SDM, but CrisCam refuses to repair it otherwise.
Despite all of these, I love the DA*55. It works particularly well with K5 which has a much more accurate AF system than Kx. It is far superior to my F50 f1.7 at large apertures.

I ordered a DA18-135WR and a grip (thought it is the original) from them, but instead got a K-01 white body today :eek:. While it is very well packed, it is indeed a surprise to me. Emailed the seller and see what happens.
