I agree with benji, this is a great little camera. Produces great images from such a little package, I have had no issues with it. Here is one of my favorites taken with the F30...

They are all really nice, I like the first one the best. Reminds me a bit of the Escher piece in which the guy is holding a reflective globe in his hand and the details are in the reflection of the globe. Here...

Looks like it was a nice day in Idaho. The sunset is amazing, I like the low angle you shot it from.

Nice job, those look great. I especially like the 4th one in the gallery, the one that looks like he is strutting.

Those wide angle shots are so cool. That's the problem with looking at these photo galleries...now I want one. I like them all.

Great shots...I like the twinkle in Mad Max's eye, very nice. Sir Scooter looks like she may be sleeping on the job!

I have a question for you though, I am just getting into all the photography and PP stuff and there are many things I see that I would like to learn how to do...For instance how do you get the borders around your photos and your name on the border like that? I currently am trialing lightroom as my photo editing software, I do not have Photoshop, can I get this effect with lightroom? What are my options to be able to do this?

Take care.

Clarence-

Good observation. I seemed to have gotten the "tail end" on both shots.

I think the horses were just enjoying the view as I was. Actually this was taken at a riding stable where I was trapped outside the fence and could not go around to the front side. I was around that area for quite some time and they never turned my way.

On the flower shot I liked the background better from this angle, directly to my rear was a building which I did shoot but liked less than this angle.

Take care.

There have been many very good reviews of this lens, here and on other sites. If you are looking for a reasonable price telephoto zoom this lens is at the top of most peoples list along with the sigma. If you are looking for a portrait lens this is not the best choice, a bit long. I am not sure what your main intentions with the lens are, but give it a try and see if you like the range and the images it produces. As for the size, relatively speaking, it is not a huge lens-it is long but the weight is reasonable. All in all for $189 I think the lens is quite a bargain. Good luck.

Poll: Why did you buy a Pentax DSLR?

I actually had no intention of buying a Pentax when I first started researching my choices. A friend of mine has a D50 and I was leaning toward the Nikon (D40, 50, or 80). I went to a local shop to check them out and low and behold I liked the Pentax better than all others. I started doing some research and and found I like many things about the Pentax in addition to the feel, some of the things I really liked:

1. Feel (as mentioned above)
2. SR in body
3. Many quality lens options at reasonable price
4. Viewfinder
5. Easy to navigate

And of course the price was not bad either. I could not be happier with my chioce, and my buddy with the D50 is now a bit jealous of me and my K100D;) .

Nice job, I am new to photography as well and have the same 50-200 lens and like it a lot, great bargain. If you have not yet get to your local library and get some photography books. I found this really helped with the basics of photography, and then of course get out there and shoot as much as possible. If you can find the book "Understanding Exposure" by Bryan Peterson check this one out, it is very helpful. Good luck.

Hi Alvin,

Yea, with some help I got it figured out. Since I got out of work early today I was hoping to get out and shoot, unfortunately the weather is a little dreary here-hopefully it will clear up this evening. Thanks for looking at my photos and for the nice comments.

Those are some nice shots, the effects of the fisheye are very nice. I really like the last two especially, the shadow on the beach really makes the shot, and the last one could be a post card.

Hi-

Thanks for the nice comments. The flower bed was taken in Dallas at the Hilton while I was there on a business trip.

Just one ?, I was actually trying to get the pictures to show up in the post, ie. without having to use the link. I copied the url from the properties on my zenfolio page, I read the "how to post pictures" thread, but unfortunately I am still not getting it. Any help would be appreciated.

HI all,

I just recently got into photography and purchased my K100d about 3 weeks ago. Here are some of the photos I have taken over the past couple of weeks. I purchased the 18-55 kit, 50-200, and already made an addition...the Tamron 28-75 XR Di (love this lens).

Here are a few taken with the 50-200

18-55 kit at 18mm

Tamron 28-75

Thanks for looking and be gentle as I am just a beginner;)

I visited your country last year, what an amazing place. I travel quite a lot for work and Belgium is my favorite place. I wish I had been into photography then-so many things to shoot, hopefully I will return with my camera next time.

Hello everyone. I have been reading the forum here for about a month or so and decided to sign up today, seems like a great place. I purchased my k100d about three weeks ago (w/DA 18-55 and 50-200, also picked up the tamron 28-75 XR Di about a week ago) and have been having a blast ever since. I have only recently gotten into photography, about 6 months ago. I bought my girlfriend a fujifilm F30 (great p&s) and started reading some books and researching online, needless to say I was using the camera more than her so I had to buy my own. I could not be happier with my choice. Looking forward to chatting with you all in the future.
