Nope. Not interested in a half-frame. I'll use the funds I would have spent on a new body, and CLA one or more of my older film bodies.

My version was printed in 1969. Below is the flyleaf indicating first edition was April 1966. (First USA was September 1966.)

I mentioned this image in a post early Dec.

This is a cabinet card of my Grandfather. He was born late 1883, so this must be late1884 or early 1885. I'm not sure how this image came about, since he was never in England as far as I know. (His name was handwritten on the card, which I have removed.)

I encountered the following security error message. The Ricoh Imaging Canada website is not "https:" You can bypass this screen and continue to the Ricoh Canada website by clicking on the advanced button at the base of the error message. The website is horrendously slow by the way, and only basic content.

What was your first digital camera?

I was relatively late to the digital age. Mine was a used Nikon P5000. Still have it, but the onboard battery is dead, so every time I want to use it, I have to change the date, time and all shooting settings.

This is a photo taken May 1, 1913 of the (Canadian Parliament) Press Gallery Baseball Team. My paternal Grandfather was a member of the press gallery and is second from the left. (I have a photo taken of him from 1885-1886 at 3 years old, but I cannot find the scan. I will post it later in the week.)

Visited Quebec City for a few days in late September. Beautiful weather. Lots of crowds with cruise ships in and out every day, and picked up a mild case of COVID. (Phooey!)

Took 260 shots with the GM1 and Leica 25 combo. Left the Sony ff and Pentax aps-c at home. Too cumbersome. The tiny GM1 is the perfect travel camera. (Also took a couple of dozen fish-eye shots that were fun.)

Dumb luck!!! Sony A7R2 + Loxia 85

Osprey. The bird left the nest, and flew right over my head. Fortunately the camera aperture was set at F11 and infinity focus, so I just instinctively hit the shutter and crossed my fingers. I had time for one shot, before I lost it from the frame. The bird is a little soft at 100%, but I'll take the image anyway. The shutter speed is 1/320, so it may be my movement or the bird's movement accounting for the softness.

uncropped full image. I opened up the shadows drastically in post to get some definition of the underside since the bird was backlit.

Another one through my condo window. It has been a dark, gloomy day of constant rain and freezing rain. Sony A7R2 + Loxia 85.

I guess I was very surprised at the sharpness. The Sony has 5 axis stabilization using Sony lenses, but drops to 3 axis using third party lenses (including the Zeiss Loxias). Frankly, I wasn't expecting much when I tried the shot. I took it on a whim as if shooting with a P&S camera. Half the battle no doubt, was the ease of nailing focus using the EVF. It is much easier than trying to manual focus my K-3, especially in low light.

Just for a lark, I grabbed my Sony A7R2 and Loxia 21 a few minutes ago and took this shot through my condo window. Hand held at 1/10 sec. I'm impressed with the Sony IBIS.

I'm in Brockville, so just an hour up river from you. I purchased a Zeiss Loxia 85mm lens from MPB (USA) last Sept. The lens with box and hood were in perfect condition. (I forget what grade MPB rated it at.)

The lens I was looking for appeared on the MPB British site earlier in the year, but MPB said it would not ship to Canada from England. Several months later, the lens was available on the MPB (USA) site, and I purchased it. The transaction was smooth with fast delivery and excellent communication from both MPB and FedEx.

The lens cost $649 + $59 shipping = $708 USD which with credit card exchange rates totalled $986 CAD charged to my c.c.

FedEx contacted me a couple of days later with a $126 CAD charge for brokerage, duty and taxes. So the $649 USD lens cost $1112 CAD all in. However, I'm very pleased with the purchase, and would not hesitate to buy from MPB again. (I've also had excellent buying experiences from B&H shipping to Brockville.)

It was approaching golden hour at 3:15. The sun is quite low in the sky this time of year, and the air was very calm. The smoothness of the water is emphasized by the wake left by the Trumpeter Swan in this shot. Unfortunately, I only took the one lens that day. I could have used something longer for this kind of shot.

Tried my (new to me) A7R ll out on the trails with the Loxia 85. I was experimenting looking for problematic situations, and this shot fits the bill perfectly. Highlights and deep shadows both requiring detail. This was minimally processed from raw. Very pleased!

Happened to look out the window after dinner tonight, and couldn't pass up shooting the sunset. It took me a few minutes scrambling to grab my (new to me) Sony A7R ll and Loxia 85. Opened the balcony door, and took the shot wide open, hand held. The sunset was disappearing by the minute. I was five minutes past its peak.
