Thanks for your thoughts Derek. It's much appreciated.
I am in a phase of life where my attention has had to be diverted from regular online activity for leisure to family matters, and unfortunately, work, which has become more demanding of my time and efforts, and one whereby it may lead to a change in direction in the next phase of life...
Photography has certainly taken a back seat, but I never holiday without my K-1.
Thanks to all for the enquiries. I will attend to them in turn, starting with UncleVanya. Much appreciated for your patience.

The image quality is reduced in high contrast situations, and is only overcome in part by boosting contrast in post-production. Otherwise it would be best CLA'd to rejuvenate the inner element. ---------- Post added 20-12-23 at 10:06 ---------- I have reinstated this listing priced to sell as it would be worth the effort to clean the lens and bring it back to its former glory. ---------- Post added 20-12-23 at 10:08 ---------- $100 to anyone interested in tidying up the rear element.

Pentax SMC 77mm f/1.8 Limited lens (see text) Asking Price
100 USD Item Location
Queensland (Australia) Item Description
Up for sale is a well cared-for 77Ltd that has been a well-trusted lens for over 12 years. I still have it in near-new condition cosmetically - optically it still produces sharp images, focuses perfectly each time, and at all focal distances, but...
I have just started to notice a slight haze on the inner aspect of the rear element, which I cannot depict in the photos of the lens. It causes a haze in images taken with the lens and must be considered when picking this lens up. It would suit someone who is savvy with pulling the rear element apart for it to be cleaned and put back together again. I am not the right person for that job. So this is a decent lens to have and use without breaking the bank account.
It also includes the original front lens cap, rear cover and genuine Pentax leather pouch case. Let me know if you have any further enquiries about this stellar lens that has served me well. Are you the original owner of the item being sold?

It should be a long-term fix unless an event, like dropping it again, dislodges the connector from its slot. ;)
I’m not game to do fiddle with soldering the bits together myself, but so far, since the last post, I’ve had no problem with my own 540 FGZ.

Subdued exposure matches the colours, lovely detail and differential soft lighting all complement that image.

The forum is designed to talk about photography and showcase Pentax photos. The forum owner has made it clear that politics and religion are not a part of this photography forum.
There is a separate “General Talk” sub-forum (the forum this thread is in) where people can say what the weather is like, what cars they drive and what they ate for breakfast. Maybe even show some photos of those things. But religion and politics is not included.
Photography of world events is obviously fine, but if there is an inclination for threads to talk about the politics of the presented images, the moderation team will likely close the respective threads to comments. Whether or not any member finds a discussion on the matter “useful” is irrelevant.
Please be respectful of the rules and keep the photography forum about photography.

Thanks for the comments, all.
To have made them even more outstanding would have been the timing for the photo. Dusk would have been even better.
I touched down really late there so I missed that opportunity that night. And I only had one night there…

Now you’re just showing off what the SR Pentax is so capable of, Sandy :D
You’re probably right, they could arise, to expand the capability just a touch, although only by that little bit extra so you can keep the tripod at home…

Although the 14mm lens made by Pentax is fully recognised by the camera and doesn’t need to be manually entered in like the Rokinon 14mm A-lens I have. I don’t think it matters anyway. Anyone wanting the full effect of SR with such a wide angle lens is essentially asking for the ability to hand-hold a shot with a 1-2 second shutter speed. How often does this practically happen? You’d be better off using a tripod for the expected long-exposure wide-angle dusk shots.

These photos challenge everything about the camera and lens in the low-light setting:
hand held
wide open
high ISO
slow shutter speed
details heavily lifted in PP
