Really? My experience with Acros is the complete opposite - I find it reasonably contrasty - just the way I like it! :)

Thanks - It is a Holden, I believe an FJ. Made in Australia and a classic of it's era.

Some fantastic B&W photos in this thread - have enjoyed them all!
This is taken with a Bronica S2a, Film Fuji Acros 100 (my favourite B&W film by far!), developed in D76 1:1 Chrome by closer look, on Flickr

Holy crap! Amazing photo, and certainly showing one of the advantages of film. Have you tried any Kodak Ektar 100?

Yep it's great - you can tune out to the outside world and just focus on the printing - just wish I had more time to do so!

Finally managed to pick up a ME Super (black) for a reasonable price. Bonus was it included a mint condition A 28mm lens. The whole lot was picked up for far less than what the lens sells for on it's own!
A bit of brassing, but mechanically looks excellent.
Only downside is that the mirror seal needs replacing.
Can anyone pint me in the right direction to either a DIY solution or something available ready to go?
I think the rest of the seals should be o.k. - I am going to try and run some cheap film through it anyway to see how it goes.
Cheers,
Matt

I have the exact same set up - you just convinced me to get some 35mm Ektar! Superb photos - well done.

In my experience Ektar really needs bright lighting to get the most out of it - I don't think the overcast conditions were on your side with these.

Thanks for the info everyone - I have my eye on a couple bodies on a particular auction site, and will monitor the classifieds here.
ihasa - I do have a MZ-50, but I don't think M lenses work on it - at least I couldn't figure it out! It is also a bit too 'modern' for what I want in a film camera :)

That ME Super does look very nice.

Looking for some help and recommendations for a 'new' Pentax film body.
Currently I have a K1000, and really enjoy using it, however I would like something a bit more 'modern' I suppose.
I also recently brought a pristine P30, which is great (especially the size and weight) except for a couple of things ie no manual ISO setting, and the fact the back has a tendency to pop open when I change the lens! There will certainly be some light leaks on the test roll!
Basically I am using M lenses, but have a couple of A lenses I would also like to use.
Any suggestions would be most appreciated!
Cheers,
Matt

The thing is, people generally (myself included) like to hold and look at something physical, or see some kind of physical result - digital, while having it's numerous benefits, does not produce anything physical, and I believe people do not place as much value on these images due to this fact.
I certainly see film as continuing as a niche market, but I don't think we will see the point where it is no longer available for a fair while to come.

Part of the reason I use film is for a permanent record of my kids - cute kid!

Another one from my trip to NZ in 2002.
Pretty happy with how this one scanned - colours are pretty much as I remember them. NZ034 by closer look, on Flickr

I finally managed to find the negatives from when I was in NZ about 9 years ago.
These were taken at Fox glacier in the South Island. Looks like film was Kodak Gold, and the camera I was using was a Pentax MZ-50 with Sigma glass.
Cheers,
Matt
Just realized this was scanned backwards! |

Some great info here!
I have been using a very old Yashica J rangefinder - completely manual and fairly limiting with 1/300th max shutter speed and a fixed 40mm 2.8 lens, but it is great fun to use - and the shutter is so damn quite, half the time it has me questioning if it is working properly!
I am currently trying to work out how to get hold of a Zeiss Ikon range finder, and some of their glass - after having a play with one recently it is now at the top of my photographic equipment wish list :)
