The K-1ii is one tough cookie. I put a very large dose of stupid on mine with a 15-30 F2.8 heavy monster on it by allowing my tripod to go over on a concrete walk way in Carlsbad Cavern while doing pixel shift pics. It went over past 90 degrees as I was on a slope and the lens is trash according to Precision (who by the way shipped it back free and didn't charge to look at it, I don't think they took it apart) but the camera got the 28-105 put on it and finished the Caverns taking some great shots. Funny thing is right after the fall it stopped showing the 4 pictures as it took them but it started to show the blocks with nothing in them then started to show the whole thing like normal. It never missed a picture (around 100 in the caverns) here 6 weeks later is still working as if nothing happened. Still trying to figure out what to do with the $1300 paperweight of a lens now. Had camera insurance til we changed insurance companies and they said homeowners covered it all but I never though about the $1000 deductible.

I am the one that posted the link.. I was just wondering because someone said they got one but it wasn't a Precision place that did their work and it was in German I think they said.
I prefer one in the hand so I don't need screen in front of me to look at it. A paper one works better for me when out rolling around in the RV...

On Dec. 7th my K-1 now shows on the Precision web site as in repair and not waiting for parts !!!!!!!!

Some of us wanted to hear some real time reports on what was really improved to figure out if it was worthwhile getting the up grade. That is why I waited. My problem is not how long it will take but the fact that Precision told me on the phone on Sept. 24th yes they had the parts send it in. Then charged my card saying it was to hold parts (which they did not have).. After a few emails back and forth they did refund my money back, but the camera is still there. they said they would send it back but then I am out the $48 counting insurance to ship it to them.

I called them (Precision) and was told they had the parts send it in on Sept. 24. So what Quicksand did was pretty much the same and to me this all falls on Precision and Ricoh... I did get them to refund my money til they have the parts... When I said something about the money they told me it was to hold parts, I asked them which parts they were holding, at that point they agreed to send my money back til they have something..

Latest info after calling Ricoh USA and them telling me Precision are the ones talking to Japan about it, then this from David Marsh at Precision
"The current ETA for the arrival of the parts from Ricoh/Pentax is the end of December. FYI, the ETA has moved twice now, so we can’t be 100% sure of the actual arrival date until they’re shipped from Japan. We have about 125 folks, like yourself, waiting for the delivery of these parts so we can complete the upgrade.

Latest from Precision is the first person I spoke with Steve Mongrain is no longer with the company, and the person I got the email from said

Your issue has been escalated to me for review. Unfortunately, Steve is no longer with our company. I located this email message in his inbox today and have sent a request to our accounting team to determine the status of the refund. As it is now past our business hours, I’ll get back to you on Wednesday with the refund status. I will also look into the ETA for the K-1 II Upgrade parts kit to provide you with an ETA for when this can be completed. If you do not wish to wait we would be happy to return the product to you without performing the upgrade.

Here it is 2 days later and still no reply. I sent another email to him yesterday. Nothing from Ricoh from the on the site form I filled out or the 2 phone calls where they said they would get back to me...

After filling out the form to Ricoh on Sunday night 9/30 I got the "Your contact request has been received! " email on 10/1 with a phone number to call if I had any questions. Hell yeah I got a question it was on the form I sent ya !!!! So I call them Monday afternoon and was told so and so would get back to me with an approximate date for the boards to get in.. Crickets is all I heard so I called back yesterday afternoon 10/4 and got another we'll get back to you and still more crickets... You would think at some point somebody would know something about this....

And to add insult to injury after telling me they had the parts send it in on 9-24, when a phone call on Friday 9-28 reveled they didn't have the parts on 9-24 and have no idea when they will have the parts they charged my card on 9-27.. A call to them today and they said it was to hold the parts ???? THEY DONT HAVE THE PARTS !!!!! What parts they are holding I have no idea... I told them to put the money back on my card til they have some parts to hold. Mean while I don't have the camera, the whole point of calling them on 9-24 was so this exact thing didn't happen..

According to the gal today they did not have the parts when I called on Monday and have been out, she said she didn't know why they told me they did... I would have waited til they had the parts to send it in, that was the whole point of calling...

So I called Precision Camera on Monday 9/24 to see if they had the parts to do the upgrade and they said yes sent it in. I took it up to UPS and away it went. 9/27 my update on Precision's site says delayed waiting for parts. Called just now 9/28 and they said yup no parts there and they have no idea when they will get more. WTF ??? They can't even give an approximate date for return..

Catfishjohn was right as can be !!! I shot some at high shutter speed and sharp as can be... Helps if you know how to use the equipment... Never had a problem with shutter shock til now, old dog learning new tricks !!!!

I was looking around and see where some people have had their lens stick at 180 which is where mine starts to stick and frees up at around 210-220 and than again at the top but not as bad as the bottom. Thanks for your reply !!!

I got the Pentax 150-450 lens for Christmas 2017 and April was the first chance I had to give it a good work out. The problem I have is the barrel seems to stick as I zoom out or in at 2 spots, like a seal is not right or maybe an out of round barrel.
It turns tight but smooth right at first but hits a spot where it feels like something is jamming it, then back to normal tight and back to feeling jammed. Anyone else have this lens and it is doing the same ? I assume I would have to send it to Precision for warranty work. From what I have read about them makes me worry how that will turn out.
It seems to struggle with focus some. Even with a tripod and using the 3 second delay with the remote. This picture here (3005) was typical of what it was doing on my K-1. The second one shows the camera focus with the 15-30 is fine. If they have to repair the sticking barrel do they re-calibrate the focus on the lens ? Thanks for any thoughts on this !!!

Went to the Delaware coast to catch 4 planets and the moon as the sun came up. Had the camera on the telescope at first and walked back to the Rv to get my lens and when I turned around this is what I saw. The wifey with the telescope and the planets all right there posing perfectly !!!! I felt without the words you wouldn't be able to see the planets so I added the words..
