I haven't read all replies, but have the 35AL, the 40DA, and the 50, in my case the 1.4, and I have the 55/1.8.
40 and 55 are quite similar: supersharp with one stop, supercolours, and a very nice bokeh........
I had the 50/1.7, but ssold it when I got the 1.4, which obviously has an even sharper bokeh, but all in all the 50's are not that convinving as it comes to colours, compared to the 55. Same counts for the 35, which is optically just a little bit behind on the 50. BUT: be aware: both are great lenses, that can not be compared with any zoomlens! The 35 hardly leaves my K5, just a pity she isn't WR!

Hehehehehehhehe......
I got my copy 2 weeks ago allready, had to drive to Germany however.........
It still seems the lens is hardly available, and that's a pity: allthough this bitch of plastic is unusable when focussing manually, even with a split-focus-screen, it auto-focucusses very fast indeed, and very accurate, maybe better than my 40mm/2.8..............
The build of the lens is by far the crappiest I've had on my camera, but optical quality is very good; I could compare it with my K-35/3.5, and it seems te K is somewhat sharper, but mind you: the K is a different lens; the DA is the FA-follow-up in plastic...........
I regard this lens the better streetlense, compared to the 40mm, since the 40mm is a little bit narrow............

I don't agree with most posts that 35mm is boring, why should it, get yourselves the f*** a fisheye :p
A few months ago I got hands on a 35mm/3.5, K-series, and apart from it's incredible sharpnes I sometimes like the focal length even more than my 40mm/2.8 DA!
You did a great job on the two lenses btw, and the pic is very nice.......
Not boring at all :) , it's just the feel of a standard 50 or 55 mm on a filmcamera, and I like that feel very much.........

The 40mm is one of the sharpest and most colourfull lenses I have, and I have a 55mm/1.8 K!
This one is just as great, different though, and te focal length resembles the one of a 55mm on full format, so a very nice standard lens.
I hardly take it of my K10, though I must admit that I have a K20 aswell..........
get it when you can.............

I had card-problems only once, and that was with A-DATA.......
Try a real card, Sandisk for instance.
And why copy pictures back to the card after you manipulated them; that could cause problems obviously............

Well, it's really nice to read a discussion where so many lenses I own are mentioned as "sharpest"......
My sharpest are: M28mm/3.5, K35mm/3.5, DA40mm/2.8, M50mm/1.4, M50mm/1.7, K55mm/1.8, A50mm/2.8macro...............
And yes, I regard myself very lucky with this collection...........

Hallo mensen, or Hello people as some might say.............
i'm roaming around this forum for at least about 8 months now been a member since then, like it very much, and would like to introduce myself, just as a gesture;
I'm not really new to photography, but lately, about 1 year ago, I stepped into the digital experience.
At last I could do what I always wanted to do: shoot as much pictures as you want, and do whatever you want to do with them........
At about 23 years old I went to an art academy for 2 years, the AKI in Enschede, and there, in the beautifull darkroom with 12 workspaces to develop your bw/w's, the smell of the developpers and the stoppers, this chemical environment directly connected to the picture that you're trying to develop, the picture that you made somewhere else............
After that, the 1st part of my career as a photographer was over; I left the academy for personal reasons and quietly stopped photography........
and oh yeah: I'm 48 years old now
recently I started placing pictures on Flickr: hansli's Photostream
nice greetings
